Hey bug just wanted to say good man for taking the glumbert problem and doing something about it. . .please erase this I dont want anyone thinking I am decent. . .BTW if you want to ban me from it no hard feelings...
bug - just caught your post on my site three days ago.
Never meant to compare US and Germany...tho' those histories are undeniably connected...problem is that the lessons are constantly avoided. I really don't know how Germany currently operates...a message to me I should learn, I suppose. Everyone knows the USA stuff....god, one cannot avoid that anywhere in the world today.
Meantime, the US "people" hear nothing but demands, complaints, needs, criticism, impatient and condemning blasts that all seem to say we haven't sent enough of the US dollars to whoever it is currently complaining...which is everyone outside US borders excepting, perhaps, a few western world nations, mostly which want to avoid the splash effect of US bashing.
Re: Uniions........US lead the way organizing workers. Problems arrived when the non-unionized world began to compete. While Unions assured constant upcreep of wages and benefits, the rest of the productive world was happy just to work for a living. It caught up, years ago, but there was no US adaption, mostly because union contracts were, well, contracts....and so went on the steady march of US economy toward where we are these days. OH...and the worldwide banking/investment industry...and the mortgage fiascos....
tough to be the world leader, I guess...first in economy for so long, but today in failure.
I read your inputs with interest. Here we live with our own media as infomation sources, mostly. Not enough go to the internet for infomation, I think. I have come to (as much as one can on this site) trust your views, even when I disbelieve them...they are YOUR views.
Sorry to post so much at once. The curse of an English major is voluability...hell, we like that sort of thing.
Side comment....I try hard to keep my French understandable....it is always a treat to read your posts so well stated in English, realizing it is not your native language. Admirable.
Bug...hearing your experiences with layoffs, especially governmental guidelines, is interesting. Seems like you also have regulations that business is intent on circumventing...and probably for good reason, at least economically...the final driver of business.
