Sounds like this guy subscribes to the her word agaisnt mine school of thought. No witnesses, no visable signs of trauma. I wonder how many assholes watched this and were like yeah I'm going to try this. Once again religion being used to justify barbarism. So whats the lesson here guys? "Its ok to beat your wife but if you step over the line Allah will beat YOU!" What a dumbass.
I am no religion scalar or historian, but as I learned not to get shocked of any apparently weird behavior in other cultures before looking it up.
My understanding is that at the time when these "recommendations" were set up in whatever book this guy is reading from, wife beating was a very common thing. We are talking 15 centuries back.. Women used to get married at the age of 14 to 19 (everywhere) and this is a fact. I guess what is meant by beating as described, is like disciplining a child or something.

So that means he can giver her a proper spanking eh? If there's not hitting in the face or tender areas, NO bone breaking, and no bleeding or bruising.. spankings and shoving is all that's left.
