EVERYONE BELOW ME NEEDS TO GET A LIFE AND START TALKING ABOUT VIDEO CLIPS. LEAVE POLITICS TO THE CORRECT FORUMS PLEASE. CITING BIASED NEWSPAPERS AND SUCH IS LIKE QUOTING MEIN KAMPF.
I lump the guy in this video in with all of the other videos on Glumbert, that show fuckin' idiots like this doing all sorts of moronic things, i.e., flinging themselves off a mountain top, dropping off of buildings and/or engaging in any other forms of "extreme" conduct that puts not only themselves at needless risk, but others who might potentially have to bail them out.
If some genie or other wish-granting entity suddenly let me have a wish or two, I would wish that I would be immune from all forms of legal retribution; then, I would place myself in that train as the engineer. As I approached this little asshole, I would halt the train. And wait. And watch. The minute I see him get up, to see what's going on.....I'd start the train up again......and nail the little fuckhead.
Then I'd back up.
And do it again.
And again.
And again.
Then, I would get a scooper, shovel up what's left, and personally deliver it to the dipshit (s) who spawned this sorry sack of shit, and say "Here ya go. Maybe you're next creation will be created with a few more brains. In the meantime, please accept this offering as a way of fertilizing your lawn."
I would then hand them my business card, which would read "Canuck1963 Clean-Up Corporation: Exterminators of The Stupid Since 2006"
Come on . . . are you telling me you never risked your life doing something stupid? Drove too fast? Jumped from a place too high? Smoked something someone gave you? Poked a girl without protection?
The point is that life is a risk. Yeah, someone will have to clean up his grease spot if he gets hit by that train, but how is that different from any of the risks you took? Your parents would still feel the loss. The police would still have to break the news to 'em. Your friends will wonder "why him, why now".
If you haven't taken stupid risks then you haven't lived a day in your life, thus I pity you. But I'm betting you did. Am I wrong???
Good points......but you're slightly off-target. Here's why:
What we're talking about here, is a matter of "degrees". Have I ever done anything what others would call "risk-taking"? Or "stupid"? Sure I have. We all have. No disagreements there. BUT....all of the things I'VE done which can fall into thiese categories, can be written off as unfortunate discretions of youth. I don't know how old the plank in this video is, but he LOOKS to be a young fella. When I was roughly his age, I'd heard that heroin was a neat thing to try....but didn't; I'd heard that robbing a fucking bank at gunpoint was a rush.....but didn't care to try it; I'd heard that jumping off of a skyscraper was the ultimate....but didn't bother; fuck, I'd even heard that suicide was the ultimate thrill....but took a pass. Currently here in Toronto, we've had a spate of teenagers dying in illegal street races; funny though...I never had a fancy to try THAT either. My point? Stunts like what this asshole pulled in this video kinda goes BEYOND THE PALE of "youthful indiscretion", and crosses over into outright STUPIDITY. See, I've had enough of what you might call "close-calls", I guess; as a result, it's made me a little more appreciative of my existence on the planet, and thankful. But what do you say about assholes like this....who GET OFF ON IT? Or do it deliberately? Or repeatedly? Like, c'mon. There has to be a fuckin' line drawn SOMEWHERE, y'know? Now, as far as the cops having to break the bad news, and family and friends saying "why him, why now"....well, I would guess that there would be at least ONE person who'll pipe up and say "Because he WAS A DUMB SHIT WHO LACKED COMMON SENSE, AND GOT STUPID AND SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER!! I MEAN, WHAT FUCK WAS HE THINKING??"
Line's got to be drawn somewhere.
That's what it boils down to.
And, sorry....in spite of the silly risks I took in MY life...NONE of them compared to something like what's shown in this video.
Ever.
And I've STILL lived life quite richly, please-and-thank you.
The age of one's prefrontal cortex, While some areas of the human brain are mature by the end of childhood, the prefrontal cortex - responsible for things like, impulse control and strategic planning (anticipating the likely consequences of one's actions) - continue maturing through the teenage years, right on till the mid twenties.
This also means that younger brains are constructed in a way that makes their "owners" more open to ideas, more amenable to change (a time of heightened opportunity), but also makes young people more likely to experiment and take risks (a time of heightened risk). An immature brain, together with the hormones that stir them up and drive them to be thrill-seekers (especially for boys), is a potentially dangerous mix no doubt. As we've all witnessed in some of these "thrill seeking" videos on glumbert (even more on youtube) most of the "actors" are in fact young males. This would be where "parenting" comes into the picture.
Since adolescence tends to be a time of increased freedoms and decreased parental monitoring, (what most teenagers seem to want) we may sometimes be giving young people more freedoms than they can handle.
Adolescents from authoritative (warm and firm) homes achieve more in school, have better self-reliance
AND confidence; and (most importantly) are less likely to engage in anti-social and risk-taking behavior. Could that be it...it's all the parents fault!
I can see what you're saying.....but isn't that kinda like these nutty child psychologists saying that if young kids watch too many violent Bugs Bunny cartoons, they'll grow up to be demented murderers? Or watching The Three Stooges will make you a wife-beater? You know what I'm getting at here, right? I'll even take your points at face value, but that still wouldn't explain the many other teen adolescents who go through puberty without having to devolve into a neandertholic , stupidity-induced state. Why others....and not them?
I dunno.
One could literally go crazy just trying to figure it all out, I suppose.
Miter - I think you will have to be careful. Those train guys are edgy now, and if they just see a person walking near the tracks they seem to react. Probably think everyone is a terrorist.
Your right pod, I'll do it from the bushes stealthy like.....I had another Idea, next time it snows I'll build a big ole snow man right between the rails lol,
I think I have this weird snowman killing disorder.....Oh yeah, let it snow, let it snow, let it snowwww.
Wish the vid was real, but it can't be. He would have been spotted and would have pissed off a lot of people. Train would stop, cops would be called and realistically.....can this be done without killing yourself. I would imagine the camera would be toast at the very least. Wouldn't there be a rush of air at some point which would jostle the camera. Anyways, if there was a controlled environment in which I could do this without annoying Canuck, I would so do it. Also, I should get a glass of wine before I post............I said 'would have' way too many times. I can tell you one thing I would like to do before I die. Does anyone remember that movie 'Pushing Tin'. It wouldn't impact on anyone negatively if I got blown around by the jet wash and the pilots of the plane would not be trying to avoid me or even notice me. Now I realize that one obstacle remains, if I get hurt or die there would be a negative impact on my friends and loved ones.............maybe I could wrap myself in bubble wrap before I do it?
The camera is braced down no doubt. I've just got to do this, that is lock down a camera to the tracks, not myself! I had lots of experience with "train jumping" as we called it in my youth. Slow moving freight trains were so easy to jump on and hang on to. Then a couple "incidents" happened..six of us got on a westbound freight and well, it got going real fast and we couldn't get off, until it got to just outside Chicago! We started kind of near Detroit (Ann Arbor) we jumped off and had to call our parents...talk about some splainin to do! We were all 16 at the time. Then years later, a whole bunch of us (drunk college students now) decided it would be real fun to, "jump" a train, to make a long story short, one of the guys with us fell between cars and was very fortunate to lose only an arm! Lopped clean off, that was extremely horrific, as you can imagine, lucky for him a friend and I were both paramedics and saved his, bleeding to death, ass! We barely had enough "stump" to tie off, and we were way out in the country (this was before cell phones) and getting help was the hardest part of the whole ordeal. That ended our "train jumping" for good! That and the cops busting us all! I will never forget the image, of one of those guys with us that night, drunk as a skunk, walking around with the severed arm (hamburger) asking everyone if he could "give us a hand" freaking surreal!
miter - You have to admit your life is certainly full of experiences. Compared to you I have led a claustral life, and I have been through some wild stuff.
Without a doubt, I have led an interesting life so far, I'm always being told I should write a book! I have so many "stories" to tell (and do all the time) and so little time to tell them lol. I also happen to be a good story teller, I'm one of those animated, sound effect making kinda guys! Now if only I could make a buck at it.......
riza, I think after the train has passed over him you hear the screeching of the brake. So likely they were after him but obviously he got away to post his video.
Hey miter if u figure out a way we can make some money with our animated voices let me know ive got a radio dj type voice kinda sound like hulk hogan but can do many characters Alf,Yoda,Kermit the frog ,wrestlers ect...... Lets make some coin we will be partners 60/40 LOL I HAVE EXPENSES
Damn Sven, you know me sooo well. That has got to be one of the greatest sites ever. It's rated 'pg' folks and I highly recommend a visit to all. Check out the Etiquette part especially.......sooooo LOL. Thanks Sven, you really made me smile after a long hard day.
Luv, Nik
I have just become a grandfather. Boy, 9lb 2oz, noon today. He does not have a face like an arse, and I hope he doesn't think lying on rail tracks is a good idea!
Not much different yet, Miter. No doubt once I have bonded with the boy and showed him a few of my famous magic tricks, things will be different! That's if he doesn't run a mile at the first sight of me!
Thanks for the good wishes.
i do not understand why the neocons are so psyched about getting into a war that we can't sustain, never mind win, without the use of nuclear weapons.... our military is stretched very thin at this point. or maybe they just plan to drop a lot of conventional explosives from 30k ft and split
Sounded like GWB had to concentrate very hard to say "Iran" and not "Iraq", the arguments were the same...
It is such a waste what they do there, Iran is a stable country that can be dealt with on diplomatic level. Acknowledging them as such would be a great step towards solving the problems, treating them as outlaws is a major part of the problem.
If you were the captain/head honcho of an American Navy ship, how would you each personally handle the situation where, hostile foreign (Iranian) "boats" threatened your "armada" (based on recent events).
Let's say your rules of engagement were such that you had, sole decision making authority, and the political/world climate is, as it is now. What would you do?
If I was the Commanding Officer of an "American Navy ship"....that tells me:
A) I have a lot of sophisticated technologies on board;
B) I have a lot of neat weaponry.
If these piddly-ass Iranian boats were in my vicinty, I would simply instruct my Communications Officer to either tell them to identify themselves, or warn them off; order my XO to take the vessel to whatever state of alert I deem fit; fire a warning salvo, if need be; send out a party to board and/or seize the pricks.
BUT.....there ain't NO WAY anyone is going to convince me, that these Iranian "boats", are worth starting a war over.
Especially if I'm standing on the bridge of a U.S. destoyer, in a battle group.
We don't have good info, so any opinion needs a lot of presumptions to support it.
I tend to believe the CO's of the clearly superior US warships were incredulous of the Iranian approach and saw it for what it was....provocation to inflame the US to some out-of-proportion response...somethng we've been prone to now and then. Like some little brat tugging on superman's cape...the brat gets away with it because any response by the big guy would be viewed on the world scene as excessive.
They (the US guys with all their firepower) showed remarkable restraint, in my view...I think having to contain their own reactions and tolerate the posturings of this pimple of a navy were extraordinary, and averted what might easily have become a major crises.
Recalling an extremist mentality that prizes martyrdom, I don't know if I would have been able to be so constrained...I'd like to think so, but....well, one never knows until placed in that real situation.
The speedboats were of little threat, even if packed with explosives. We know that even when they are, they have to actually ram the craft (USS Cole) to do any substantial damage, and even the Cole sailed home after minor repairs.
Now, onto what actually happened. Who knows, but the Tonkin reference is a very strong one. If I were the captain perhaps I would look carefully the script I was given for the "Incident", and follow it to the letter. Perhaps I'm cynical about the actions of the Bush administration, but then again, based on their history, why isn't everyone?
It's so much the Navy showing restraint (which they did).....so much as it was Georgie-Boy, playing this out to be like it was the next fucking Battle of Trafalgar.
Why is it that you pick and choose whose account you wish to believe? Suggests a "bent", I think. Your citation was arguable at best, and biased at worst.
Like I said, "we do not have good info"...neither do you.
Of course, those inclined to believe the worst will, in fact, believe the worst.
Not saying there's no blame here...strongly saying, YOU DON'T KNOW. Nor do I.
Canuck...you are such an intelligent poster...presumptions and ill supported opinions do not help your credibility. You have created a posture of anti USA views and actions. Means you're right at least half the time...also means you're likely to be wrong by the same measure.
Geeesh......can't you stop with your bashing of us down here.
Like, we seduced small boats to approach our battleships...the purpose being (?) we need to defend something? we need to confront these mosquitoes (?) we need the international awareness of us BIG GUYS facing down the little guys (?).
Dumb POV, in my opinion. The US conspiracy against the whole rest of the world....yeah, right.
Ahhhhhhgggghhhhhhh......take over, Canada, any time you'd like. After all, you do have all the answers, don't you.
OK.....just read all of this post and realize it's more dramatic than I'd like. I'm going to post it anyway...with this disclaimer...
...the people of USA do no like killing other people...they like sending support to less fortunates in forms of money and food and like that...they also complain about their leadership, as does Canada, France,
Hopefully they have a submarine escort. Torpedo #1 fire..........
Douchebag standing in the destroyer's bridge. **Gets on the mic** Attention all crew.....Holy shit there is a pink elephant behind us!!!!! Ummm yeah....just wanted to say have a good day.
First Officer Canuck - Where did the Iranian boats go?
F.O. Canuck - No idea sir I was looking for the elephant.
Captain Douchebag- First Officer Canuck, where did the Iranian boats go?
F.O. Canuck - No idea sir I was looking for the elephant.
chaz, the bashing will maybe stop when you have a less moronic, less war mongering president.
Fact is that GWB is looking desparately for a casus belli with Iran since he knows that whoever follows him will likely not start another war and he wants to make some more money for his friends from the military industry.
chaz - Canuck is not anti-American but anti Bush. In fact over the past six months there have been some US citizens here on glumbert more anti-US than anyone else. In my opinion, C is just for rule of law, sound economics, freedom of speech, etc. Canadians and the rest of the world DO have a right to express their opinions on US policy, because if GWB wants us to be lord and master of the world, then you have to take what comes with all aspects of this responsibility.
I feel you are not separating the current administration from the United States of America. These ARE separate entities regardless of how people try to bind them together. The US is a democratic Republic, and the government does NOT RULE us! WE tolerate this current administration in the hope of change in the near future.
I think its assholes like in the video"SOLDIERS TAUNT IRAQI DOG" that give the rest of the world the opinion that U.S takes pleasure in killing people and things in my opinion just like any country just a few bad apples as for U.S taking Canada didnt u guys try that before and if my memory (HISTORY CLASS HIGH SCHOOL) serves me correct some1 came to our rescue and would again BRITAIN "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN"
"You have created a posture of anti USA views and actions."
"Geeesh......can't you stop with your bashing of us down here."
Chaz....oh please-please-PLEASE......tell me....you honestly didn't type those words. YOU....of all people. Okay....I dunno what kind of rot-gut you've been swilling from those vineyards, but (here we go yet again), some points to make VERY clear here:
1. "Bashing" the idiots in this current Administration is NOT the same as "bashing" the U.S. as a whole, nor its peoples. We've gone through this before, haven't we? Ad nauseum? Yes, I think we have. I would NEVER insult the average American by lumping him/her in with Bush or Cheney. EVER. One is NOT indicative of the other, as a whole. I wish you'd make that distinction once and for all. I really wish you would. Please tell me...what is it with some folks down there who either WILL not, or CANNOT......do that? Is it cultural brainwashing? Is it something in the water? Too many John Wayne movies as a kid? Well? Go ahead and tell me. Anytime.
2. My whole point in what I wrote, is that since (as you've rightly said) we don't have all of the answers, there is absolutely NO CREDIBILITY left with this current Administration with ANYONE outside your borders, so therefore we are left to DIG for the answers. They've pretty well screwed up everything they've come near, and haven't been right about a single goddamn thing. And to add insult to fuckin' injury, cannot seem to ADMIT when they've been wrong about ANYTHING.
Take into account about the successively long history of previous Administrations engaging in regime changes, C.I.A.-sponsored "false flag" operations or even seizing opportunities to take small incidents and make them into something BIG to advance an agenda (Tonkin Incident comes to mind), and you're left with a long pattern of ordinary folks falling asleep at the switch, who never question and instead swallow this crap, as soon as they can shovel it.
And yes, I DO agree that the U.S. is looked upon as the "Big Guys".
But what's the old saying?
With great power comes great responsibility.
Maybe I'm just waiting for the day (however naively) that I see ANY Administration do just that:
Be responsible.
And act.....responsibly.
And if they cannot....or will not....do that, then maybe it's time to fuckin' hand in the badge and gun.
Just saw today, that during Bush's Middle East Tour, yesterday he spoke glowingly about "democracy". He did this in the United Arab Emirates, and guess who comprised 100% of his audience?:
Nothing but Mideast tyrants and theocratic dictators, where "royal rulers" make ALL of the decisions. And pretty well ALL of them are sympathetic to Iran.
Like.....don't YOU think this has gone beyond the pale of even a fuckin' joke??? Or that the world has taken a turn for the surreal?
Surreal, bordering on the outright fuckin' ludicrous. Why someone hasn't already taken a friggin' poke at this idiot by now (considering where he's at) truly astounds me.
Why doesn't he just shut up already, and go on a permanent vacation at his palace in Texas. It is so embarrassing. :(
I know what his audiences are talking about before they go.
Habib: "Hassim, you going to the idiot theater tonight?" Hassim: "We are all going. No matter how many times we see him it is just unbelievable that they have that nut as a leader!" Habib: "It really is. It really is."
Listen up. You ALL are idiots. Nobody cares what your opinions are except your mothers once they finish suckin me off. Now start talking about video clips and leave politics to the correct forums.
Listen, when I hear of Paul Wolfowitz being named as head of the World Bank, or Karl Rove being an op-ed writer for the NY Times, or "Scooter" Libby getting his sentence commuted, Rumsfeld being given a farewell parade and called by Cheney "the greatest Secretary of Defence that America has ever known"......
how come it's only white kids who do this sort of thing i mean you never see chinese kids going over Niagara falls in a barrel or black kids skateboarding their way into the intensive care unit?
God I love being a fuckin' douchebag. I can spout whatever I want and no one gives a shit. FUCKIN' A, FUCKIN' ME, AND MORE FUCKS. I am just as fuckin' worthless as I am fuckin' valuable. It has been fuckin' said before, I add no fuckin' value to the fuckin' intellect here. I am a fuckin' waste of space, but I do bring some fuckin' laughs. How's my fuckin' credibility now?
Unchanged.......AHHHHH, thats why I love being a douchebag.
Wooof....got a hammering here....think I'll move on.
Got no repsonse re: the rapid advance of the small (quick) boats on a clearly superior naval force. What might have been the world view had the super-criticized CO's actually did what some posters think they should have...blow them out of the water.
Almost wish they had...."almost" being the operative word. Admirable restraint, IMO.
Canadian beer is OK, but not a good excuse to free-vent.
Look....like all us here in the targetted nation who are funding the world's needs, I am impatient...with our leadership, with the lack of attention to world needs by other countries who expect the US should take care of it all, and by the criticism of my country and us folks that we endure from people like you who know all the answers and are so wonderfully gifted second guessers.
Canuck...love most all your posts, but you bring me close to crudity, because of my impulse to counter your coarse remarks with equal baseness, as they applies to your unbridled critiques of my country.
Sorry...that's how it works. Love your skiing, and bacon, tho'.
Stop with your self-inflating posts, eh? And try using common terms, readily available, instead of your scat...so demeaning of your thoughts.
I just continue to believe your using the "f" bomb degrades your post.
I try to avoid junk talk....not to be mistaken for weak opinions.
"....as they applies to your unbridled critiques of my country."
Y'know....I'm starting to feel like an orchestra conductor who's about to go ballistic on the trumpet section because they CAN'T or WON'T pay goddamn attention to the piece that's being played, and simply go off into oblivion, and play what the hell they want.
Once more....with GUSTO.....
1. Criticizing the political leadership and/or the Administration and/or its foreign policies, is NOT the same as criticizing "The Country". Let me repeat that: NOT the same thing. Do I have to get a rusty scalpel, and physically separate the two ideals for you?
2. "........and us folks that we endure from people like you " WHO, exactly, are "us folks"? And WHO, exactly, are "people like me"? G'head. Please explain. I'm dying to hear this one.
3. Okay....once more....with GUSTO AGAIN.....I quite agree that much of the world still believes that the U.S. can (and should) be a force for good; I can't think of a single other nation that has the resources and capability that can pull that off. So, in that vein, I have absolutely NO problem, with the U.S. being (for want of a better description) the "World Cop". None at all. BUT......IF it chooses to wear that hat and badge and carry that gun.....then it had better execute that duty in a fair, firm and just manner. Period. As it stands currently, the leadership might be right once in a great while.....but it seldom EVER FAIR, or just. That's when the authority figure you've come to trust, and count on....has become a "rogue cop", playing by its own rules. And IF that's the case, then like I said above, maybe it's time to hand in that badge and gun, and turn it over to someone who CAN do the job. The problem is only further compounded, when people take the view that this kind of behaviour is NOT to be questioned, or "criticized", and such opinions as such, should be muted. Sad. Very, very sad.
3. Unless I'm mistaken, one of the most important things our two nations share, is the basic right of freedom of speech and freedom of expression; this, of course, goes hand-in-hand, with freedom of dissent. Are you now advocating Bush policy of having "Free Speech Zones", wherein if you exercise that right outside one of these "zones", you're subject to prosecution? Or are you one of those types who say "Oh ya! I'd sacrifice my liberties to preserve freedom!" (???????????)
Now, I've played it your way. No bad words. No profanity. No bluster. No "self-inflating" rhetoric.
We'll see if that makes a difference, of whether you "get it"....or not.
