Cman - I quit in '89, but I now and then still dream that I'm smoking...incredible grip this habit has. I had over 35 years of smoking, as a history...back in the 50's it was considered quite sophisticated amongst adults, and therefore absolutely essential for the kids.
You are apparently serious...10 days is quite an achievement, and no slacker lasts that long.
I am cheering you on....it gets better and better as time passes...and one of the more fun things I enjoyed back then, when appropriate moments, occured, was to identify myself as a non-smoker. For some reason that made me feel "clean", like I had joined some club I'd never thought I'd be part of.
My story doesn't have the greatest finish...in my case, I didn't quit soon enough. My gene pool wasn't particularly strong in the respiratory area, with both my mother and father having asthma (like I did), with my mom passing away from emphysema at a fairly early age. After quitting, I felt better and better as time passed, for a good number of years. Then things started to go the other way, and I found that I had COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease = emphysema). Had I stopped earlier that probably would not have happened...who knows.
You are quitting earlier in life than I did.....chances are excellent you will lose all the bad effects of the habit over time...and life without smoking is really great. Just watch out for the eating part of life....everything gets to taste better after a while, and many former smokers do tend to chow down after quitting, with predictable results. I didn't......at least not at that time. I have "grown" with age, but not smoking related.
Keep at it, C....you will absolutely never regret it, and always be happy you did it.
And, of course, your carbon footprint is so much smaller now.
C,I quit Smoking 7 years ago. You're at one of the toughest times in a quitters ,, ahh... quitting time ? Anyway It will get better then it will get worse, But never forget,This to shall pass. I like to think of it that I wasn't going to be beat by a cigarette, some how that helped? That was actually tougher then quitting Drinking!
