my cat did that all the time, always one step ahead of me going down the stairs. Than one morning Max was slow, after I had returned from the hospital I shot the SOB.

I love this cat! He has a great sense of Humor.
You can actually see him laugh after the 3rd stair.
Excellent fun! (too much catnip? NEVER!)
