This is why my entire neighborhood smells like skunks all summer long. Stupid city folks just think their cat or dog has a good appetite.
I notice that this raccoon isn't afraid of the cameraman either. I guess this is one of those family's that think it is cute to feed the wildlife. Its idiots like these that screw everything up.
you guys are right on.... I've seen 1st hand what a full grown raccoon can do to a hunting dog, and it ain't "purdy". Those claws can rip the skin on a dog like a hot knife thru butter. The flatlander's move to our neighborhood in the mts. and feed the wildlife along with their pets and for a while, nothing bad happens, then one day... they will just turn, and when their precious dog or cat is motally wounded, then they want animal control to come and get the beasts. We need much better education on this subject, it's happening far too often as we human encroach upon their homes.
I have a friend that lives in the city, they have one of those cat doors that let em in and out, one night while sitting on the couch watching the tube, in his peripheral, he noticed the cat jump up next to him, so he started to scratch his head and the fur didn't feel right...you guessed it...a raccoon!
What's funny is to tell an "uninformed person" to try and pick up an armadillo. lmaoAs soon as you bend down and touch them they leap straight up into the air smacking you in the face with their rather tough and hard back. No real danger other than a broken nose and hurt pride as everyone laughs.
Makes me wish they still had "The Raccoons" the cartoon on T.V. That shit kicked ass! I don't know if they got it in the states though, which is probably why things are so eff'd up there. That or George W, I can't decide.
Hey bobert my brother is actuall a computer animist(think i spelled that right) for the company that make the show "The Racoons" gotta love that seril sneer character lol
Well....we have a slightly different issue where I live. Coyotes. They have become the king of the wildlife food chain. No natural enemies here, and many naturalist-minded humans supporting their presence here. They have learned to find food left outside for domestic animals, and because that has brought them in close proximity to humans, they have become more and more emboldened. Seems like there is always a new poster on telephone poles around here with a cat pictured, like "Missing....answers to the name of Fluffy...reward offered"....sorry, it ain't answering to any name any more.
Cats and small dogs are seen as food....larger dogs are seen as competition. And the coyotes always win. Thing is, gawd forbid a person should shoot the dammed things, even in one's own backyard. The flaming environmentalists condemn the humans for having invaded the coyote's natural habitat, and rail on how they should be free to follow their natural instincts - even if it means occasional loss of a domestic animal (in fact, coyotes are NOT indigenous to this piece of geography...they migrated here, or were brought by some air head who thought they were doing something good...i.e., coyotes to control the deer population? ....who knows?).
Maybe I am showing some bias here. But I'll kill any animal threatening my Bichon on my back deck. Period.
Raccoons.....welcome....just another entree for the coyotes. My Bischon and mixed Persian kitty are less likely to be at risk (both are indoor pets).
Are wolves indigenous to your area? Bring them in - apparently they do a great job of keeping the coyotes down in Yellowstone once they had been successfully reintroduced.
Might suggest a malamut as a better alternative to a Bichon in coyote country perhaps...? :-)
domestic animals are stupid Chaz. Get over it. The coyotes probably migrated to your area because they had no where else to go because some stupid suburban development took over their habitat.
About the "first" crap. It was always stupid... now glumbert actually puts it as a stat on the vid. That's dumb too. It's obvious who was first on the post... it's the first one in the list! Duh. Also, what's the BFD about being first? Who f-ing? cares?
