For constrictors I hear you're supposed to keep a bottle of alcohol close to the vivarium and if you're bitten and wrapped then you pour the booze on it's mouth and it irritates it enough to let go? Zat got any truth to it? Warm water's also supposed to work...The other one is apparently to bend the tip of it's tail round and it should let go - this vid suggests not though.

Was he "puttin on the ritz" just because there were TV cameras there? We would have understood perfectly the first time he said it. He didn't need to repeat it 12 more times. I know I grasped it right away, he had a bad bite. No big surprise, since he was bothering a rather large snake with sharp teeth. I'm only surprised that he was there at all. Some may think it's boring to sit at home, not riling up wild animals. Others may simply call it a wise choice.
I'm guessing he sprung a boner when the python first rubbed up against him and the whole I GOTTA BAD BITE! schtick was to make the cameraman look at his face rather than his teeny teepee.
Who knows? You could be right. I still say he would have been better off in his own house. It has been a concern of humans for centuries, millenium even, to stay out of the path of wild animals. Why is there such a fascination in recent years to flush them out and annoy them into attacking?
randal - yeah, seems to be working for a small group of people with a certain mind set. Like with a death wish or something. I heard about the guy who studied bears for years, then was killed by one. He thought he understood them. Everyone knows about Steve Irwin. Two sides to that coin. He seemed like a great guy, very caring and passionate about his chosen field. But, at the same time, I couldn't help shouting at the TV screen sometimes, Steve, what are you doing? Are you nuts? Knock it off! Those things will hurt you!
randal, please answer me a question, either here, or somewhere else. I don't keep as sharp of track as I should when I submit a post. But, I remember reading somewhere, at some point, someone asking you if you were a SK fan? I love SK, and not because he writes "horror" stories. He infuses his work with such unforgetable people, such humor and insight, all wrapped up in the very strangest of circumstances at times. Most of his stories (although I will admit, not ALL) have captivated me from page one for at least the last 20 years or so, since I myself was 20 years old. Just curious. You probably shouldn't be surprised! Any self respecting SK reader would recognize the name.
