How is that plane lifting off the ground at 30 mph? I don't think the video was slowed down

Wow, I wonder what the electronics on board thought of that...

1. the airplane is not lifting off at 30mph... perhaps 80? It just looks like it's going really slow b/c the plane is huge.

2. I was in a 737 on decent and we got hit by lightning on the way in to LAX of all places. It was very curious. It just makes a loud snap sound... the electronics didn't even blink. You could see the flash though.

I know, electronics inside an aircraft is designed to take a beating and shake it. Though a direct discharge through the plane will generate some field strength that is hard to keep out of a circuit.

Actually a 747's takeoff speed at max takeoff weight (80,000 lbs) is 180 mph (290kmh, or 155 kts).

Lightning strikes happen to planes all the time. And they're a bitch to fix. The damage is usually a bunch of small burn marks on the skin along the fuselage and bigger burns usually on the stabilizer and wing tips. Composite pieces fare worse, they tend to lose more material because their resistance is so much higher. The electronics are shielded from the strike. Parts of the aircraft can become magnetized, throwing the magnetic compass off. Engines may have to be removed to be de-magnetized. It's a suck ass deal for the mechanics. (Me)

I don't think it actually hit the thing. It looks like it was right behind it. but what do i know? :)

Hey hey hey!

I was once struck by lightning when I was fishing in Alberta. You know that thing that happens when people are hanged - they get a huge hard on and cum in their pants just as the noose tightens?
Well, brother, that does NOT happen when you're hit by lightning. The exact opposite in fact. My dick shrunk to the size of a peanut and every hair on my body was scorched off.
My wife didn't recognise me when I got home. I lost my job. I became imppotent for three years. My memory went. I developed a stammer. And mild Tourette's. I couldn't drive my car or walk in a straight line. Counting up to more than ten was virtually impossible. I drooled every time I ate anything.
So I went for an interview to join the prison service - and they accepted me on the spot.
