WTH, This is an anti-drug after school video from David Lynch right? It would have been funny if the pencil bit the girl on the butt when she had it under her arm. I think the pencil was drooling a little bit.
I get a strong sense this video would have made an effective Stephen King short-story.
It had all the ingredients: very sombre soundtrack, with a hint of somthing dark and menacing; also, it has what appears to be some decent production quality; the face on the pencil rides a fine-line between being somewhat benign and innocent, and yet also having an undercurrent of a subtle threat or ominous intent. The use of slow-motion movement serves to add to the tinge of dread. The first two times....the kid gets what she wants (like any other kid): a cake and a kite. The third time, something vastly different, with apparently less-than-asked-for events. And all the while, the face on that pencil maintining its......smirk.
Don't know what the exact message here is, but maybe that's the beauty of it: deliberately ambiguous, to the point of letting YOUR imagination fill in the blanks. Just a theory.
