It's all about PERCEPTION.

By the voters.

Any given politician will probably lie (maybe there's a minority that won't....who knows?)......but it's the ones who can give the PERCEPTION that they won't, that usually win.

PERCEPTION is at least 80 per cent of the battle.

That's the point.

The problem is that the majority of the voters do simply not understand that the best thing you can do for a democracy is to stir up the muck by replacing the ones in office as often as possible. Have one party stay in power too long and they get their dirty business too much settled in. Replace them every four years unless there is one in the office who is really good.

I like the system the Swiss have, the government has to ask the voters for any really major decision. They still do have their small and larger problems, but most gets dealed with a lot faster and with less damage than in other countries.
