I've never been a huge fan of his music, but there is no denying he is one of the greatest dancers of all time. It would take a lot of physical strength to do what he does.

This video demonstrates why Micheal became one of the hugest pop stars of all time. Other people may have been doing it before him, or after him, but nobody was doing better than him. His dancing skills, along with his vocal talent, and his lyrics, which could at times be poignent, other times just catchy, is why everyone wanted to see Michael, watch Michael, listen to Michael. There was no one who reached that level of popularity, except maybe Elvis, who was also very unique for his time.
Unfortunately, posessing natural gifts and talents does not automatically mean a person won't lose their mind, so to speak. He obviously lost some basic reasoning skills along the way. Having your own way, every second of every day, over every single little thing that flits into your beady little head, every person around you jumping sky high to see to your every whim, well, it just let him live in a fantasy world. He is pretty far removed from reality.
Personally, I don't see any real hope of Michael being able to redeem himself. He went too far with too many things. The molestation charges being the top one. The plastic surgery. The theme park in his yard. His alleged obsessions, chimps, the Elephant man. It's all too much for most people to take.
But back in the day, Michael had no equal.
