um...not all christians pray like this...

a prayer is just talking to god...you don't have to meantion him every 2 words...

Some christians make the rest of us look stupid...they pray like they're preaching...

A simple prayer like: "God keep those who are traveling on I-40 safe, let them be attentive and alert. Amen."

Doesn't have to be: "Keep those, God, who are traveling on I-40, God, just let them be safe, God, oh God please let them be attentive."

Some people think praying is a huge act that has to be a big show...

Talking to God is like talking to another person...you don't need to meantion their name every 2 words...and you don't need to yell at them while your talking...

What a bunch of asshats. Always some nutjobs no matter where you go.

I would guess a few people in that group were about 30. Is it legal for a 90th trimester post-birth abortion, or is that considered a crime?

been watching south park much? lol

I think it would be arguable in this case that it was hard to forsee complications that late in the pregnancy...
Two incidents in just 40 years in the vicinity of the same 2500km (that's only 1500 miles) highway is alarming. If we don't start praying now, something might happen somewhere between Texas and Minnesota within the next four decades! Run for your lives!
You, like most people, have no idea what you are talking about. Praying has little to do with preventing disasters, let alone getting into heaven. If you are going to pretend to know what you are talking about at least study a bit.
Sigtm - This will really freak you out. I'm 35 years old and I live close to I-35. WOH! The irony of it all.

*Runs for the hills*

These are the kinds of people that ruin it for the rest of the religious people!
nefariousprior, I wasn't pretending to know what I was talking about at all, quite the contrary. You should have been able to work that out from my statement that the highway is 2500km long. Everybody knows that the I-35 is in fact 2523 km.
Quote:
"A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it..."

Let's make sure I have this straight.... unclean(or otherwise evil) can't pass over this interstate? What about the strippers on their way to work?
I think that pretty much proves this theory is false.

Don't get me wrong, I am very much a religious man, but come on people.
So either the thing about the I35 being the holy highway is wrong, or strippers are not considered unclean by your god, or your whole religion thing is wrong to start with.
What the fuck are you talking about?
"...The unclean shall not pass over it..." I pass over I35 everyday, Im a pagan, does this mean Im "clean"? Or does the unclean reference apply only to strippers and homeless folks?

Furthermore idiots like this always annoy me. Prayer alone will not change anything! Dont just pray for the hungery to be fed, go out and feed them. Dont pray for crime to lower in your community, organize crime watch groups. Dont pray for stip joints to go away, just drive on by and ignore em.

I really get uncomfortable when people go to such extremes publicly (whatever they do in private is their own business). I think it cheapens their faith group and weakens their "message" - on the other hand, such bizzare displays assure their numbers will never grow beyond a fanatical few, so one might say "that's a blessing" afterall.
re:"their numbers will never grow beyond a fanatical few,"

Uh, chuck, I'm not an expert, but I think that may go above and beyond, if not just a little disrepectful, toward the Lord Jesus. Do religious people celebrate Halloween at all? Is that not anti-God? (Devils, witches, Grim reaper, skeletons, mass murderer costumes, to name a few) Just asking here. I have no idea.
Hope you had a great Christmas Day chuck!

Okay.

On the "Football Coach" video thread, I simply wished everyone a Mery Christmas and all that jazz, and basically said no fiery arguments from ME tonight.

But THIS????

Sorry. I can't help it. This is just WAY TOO GOOD to pass up:

Now have a good look at the fuckin' idiots in this video. I mean a REAL GOOD look. Notice what these (and all other nutty zealots) have in common? They all have that same glazed-wild-in-the-eye look of of people who are so deep into their psychosis, that they're completely oblivious as to how insanely ridiculous they look and sound. There's only one thing besides a strung-out addiction or genuine mental illness that can have this affect on people: organized/institutionalized religion. The concept of "religion" is (as I've said many, many times before to a certain zealot and his posse) a lot like alcohol: unless taken in moderation, it's pretty fuckin' dangerous. Useddouchebag above hit the nail squarely on its head: this is PRECISELY how lunatics like David Koresh, Jim Jones, Marshall Applewhite, etc.) were able to consolidate their grip. Once you can get a gullible following, who are so lacking in their own esteem and/or self-security and are vulnerable.....they sky's the limit (no pun intended). These fuckin' idiots are worhipping a a goddamn stretch of asphalt; how much would it take for some charismatic, nutty self-proclaimed "messiah" or "prophet", to come along, and exploit these morons and their short-comings? Just to give them that extra little 'push', and have them doing whatever he/she 'commanded them' to do? Not a fuck of a lot, judging from these simpletons and their actions. "Opium of the masses". Shit yes. Absolutely.

Personally, I'd love to repeatedly tazer each and every single one of them, while screaming "HA! Let's see The Old Man airlift your sorry asses outta this one, you misguided pricks!". BZZZ! BZZZ! BZZZ! BZZZ!

Religious zealots 0

Religious zealots are the worst. Religious zealots (fanatics) think they know what is right and wrong, they think they know what is best, and they always believe they have a god on their side.

The are probably the most closed minded, hypocritical people on the planet. Even with today's scientific proof, they still choose an archaic belief that was created even before the existence of mermaids, dragons, magic, and the idea that women are witches if they can swim.

If you take a close look at religious fanatics, they want to control education, censor the entertainment industry, and basically assert their religious beliefs on you and in government.

The Christian Coalition is a perfect example of an organized group of religious zealots. Next to the KKK and related groups, the Christian Coalition is probably the scariest organization out there.

They are against what I believe in, personal freedom.

They are for censorship, putting the church back into government, banning Darwin's idea of evolution from education, while some of their "leaders" molest children, and commit many other "sins", all when the "money bucket" (used to be plate) is being passed so you can buy your way to heaven.....sickening!

There are generally three types in this world...

Lambs: They who follow blindly with no complaints or thoughts of their own, even to their death.

Shepherds: The protector of lambs, the ones that watch for and destroy the wolves.

Wolves: The ones who prey upon the lambs, for personal gain at any cost, so long as it's to their benefit. (and cower from the shepherd)

We should ask ourselves, in what category do YOU "fit"?
Well stated, can and miter, and with such ZEAL! A yin for the yang, perhaps? Mankind progresses furthest under extremes, so press on with what you believe in. It's all good.

Oh, who was asking? I like sheep...

LOL!

Wow Miter!

Is THAT the official score???

Holy shit. That ought to be worth at least SOME kind of prize!! LOL!

Seeing as how Stream and his posse have been AWOL for quite a while now, I'm coming perilously close to declaring the entire Glumbert site a Cleansed Safe Zone, purged and free from him and his band of Crackpot Realists. Mop-up operations have almost concluded, and I have encountered NO pockets of resistance (and resistance in THEIR case, is futile.....LOL!).
BTW merkin:

I understand your little jab there, smart-guy.

But you missed the point: my attitude is NOT one borne of a "zeal", nor is it rooted in an opposite "yang" or "ying", ok?

Rather, it's simply zero-tolerance/no patience for sheer fucking human stupidity, as shown by these retarded nutjobs.

Simple as that. The fact that these stupid planks are a group of religious zealots is purely incidental. They could be a rabid group of undead zombie boy scouts professing their loyalty to PETA, and I'd still feel the same way. It just seems like religious zealots seem to be the worst offenders, in terms of stupidity, that's all. To suggest that I (or anyone else who's level-headed) share the the opposite side of the same coin as THESE folks or their ilk, is pure nonsense.

I hope I've made myself perfectly clear on this.

I wanted to post other ideas here...but the angry responses to this video's zealotry make it difficult. Like, there is room only for the one extreme or the other.

I don't like that.

I believe some of each extreme, but not to the exclusion of either.

Ahhhhhhhhh.....it's simply too nice a season to get worked up about differences in beliefs (except, of course, when one is shooting at the other).

How about acceptance. In another's words that I learned which may expose much of the essence of my theosophy, I offer this (and fellow sufferers who learned these words the hard way please respect anonymity): "Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation unacceptable to me, and I find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God's world by mistake. Unless I accept life completely on life's terms, I cannot be happy. I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as on what needs to be changed in me and my attitudes"

C, this playground wouldn't be what it is without you. I understand where you are coming from regarding your opinions toward folk illustrated in this article and am just having a bit of fun with you. Now, if you want to spar...it's on!

MERKIN!

WHOA-WHOA!-WHOA!!!

"Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God's world by mistake. Unless I accept life completely on life's terms, I cannot be happy. I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as on what needs to be changed in me and my attitudes"

Awwwww, Merkin. Goddamn it. Look:

I am actually quite happy, in an overall sense. But this business of saaying "nothing happens in Gods world by mistake"....now ya lost me there. How the hell does ANYONE know what the plans of an Invisible Man In The Sky is? Or whether or not there are/are not "mistakes" in those plans? Or do I really need, for that matter, a belief in an Invisible Man In The Sky to recognize simple human idiocy? As for my attitude? Well, I don't suffer fools lightly. At all. Now, is that something in ME that needs "changing"? Or does it simply mean that I can look at someone, and say "These people are completely Section 8, and that's THEIR problem"? I mean, let's be honest here: haven't you ever come across someone or some people, and said to yourself "Jesus! Are they ever screwed in the head!"? (Or something to that effect). Have you?

I have more respect for someone who stops to give a paraplegic panhandler a few bucks, than for any of these fuckheads who worship a few miles of paved concrete and make asses out of themselves in the process, y'know?

So, when I look at folks like this....believe-you-me....the last thing I think is that MY attitude needs any kind of "changing".

P.S. Thank you for the compliment, btw. You seem like a decent sort. Looking forward to more interaction.

Regards,

C.

LOLOLO!! Merkin ,Sounds great to live in the moment, If it were possible to do it for more then ten minutes at a time?
since its not an option for me I tend to lean towards Canucks view in this matter.

These people are no doubt Flat Earthers , and they're out there dumbing down people who are vulnerable to such predators who wish to expand these asinine views to other people who live in so much fear they need something to cling to no matter how stupid!

Sorry to say but they have no redeeming quality in the crazy message they spew 24/7/365! They're liars! and with that comes thieving ,dishonesty and untrustworthiness!(ALL OF THEM)!!! Cause thats what fanatics do...LIE!
There's Really no difference in what they're spreading, or what the Muslim extremist are trying to force people to believe in. The same kind of over the top medieval message that Ranger and other young men and women of this planet are and were fighting to stop!(I need to believe that some good will come out of this war)
Canuck is right ! If these tards had their way we would be living in a world more ass backwards then it is now!

Pat Robertson,Oral Roberts and some of these other evil bastards love these types of religious zealots for ONE REASON! The more zealous these poor misguided people become the more monies they will gladly contribute to these parasites!

Besides that I wish all a very safe new years and a happy one as well! :))

I had to go to the bible, and I found a verse that is a little know verse, Matthew 35:35:

The cracketh runneth through my religious brethern doth thou haveth the best of intentions. Heed thy words for there shalt not be redemption for the naysayers.

Kinda sheds a new light.

God has moved the power! Millions live up and down this highway lamb of god!

Seriously though,

I copied and pasted this from the Heartland School of Ministry website:

Defining Extreme

extreme - adjective
1. of a character or kind farthest removed from the ordinary or average: extreme measures.
2. utmost or exceedingly great in degree: extreme joy.
3. farthest from the center or middle; outermost; endmost: the extreme limits of a town.
4. farthest, utmost, or very far in any direction: an object at the extreme point of vision.
5. exceeding the bounds of moderation: extreme fashions.
6. going to the utmost or very great lengths in action, habit, opinion, etc.: an extreme conservative.
“However, what we call extreme, God calls normal!”

Hmmmmm....I love #1

Unf'..inbelievable. The Heartland School of Ministry is an unaccredited school for religous nutjobs to enter the Ministry.

Douche I read this years ago and only until I went digging for it did I realize it was a hoax!
LOL,Yet now I will say for those years in between I was wrong about this, and Can admit it! This is a great difference between most of us and some of these people I call zealots.

If and when we are proven wrong we will admit our mistake and hopefully learn and then correct our thinking!

Zealots wont!

I don't think God wants any of us to remain ignorant through the miracle of life!

http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/blrapture.htm#note
8 months ago
merkin, considering your road map to happiness, would you say there is a difference between happy, stupid, and ignorant?
bugsy, it's not my roadmap, just something I learned with difficulty and thought I'd share with those riled by religeous zealots or any other uncomfortable situation. Then you ask...

Happiness, stupidity, and ignorance: how do they relate?

There have been studies concluding (and short busses full of evidence) that stupid people are generally happier so let’s accept that as a premise of argument. Some unhappy people therefore must be “smart”, and try to get stupid to be happy via alterations to their psyche be it chemically or behaviorally. I’ve done both, and both are fun as hell.

That’s ignorance. Ignorance may lead to death or enlightenment, but if neither, the fun is gone and nothing but hell remains. That hell can be a life of chemical addiction or in the throes of zealotry that promises hell, as illustrated in the video.

In my realm behavior is measured along a line of love and fear, each being the extreme opposites and equally emotionally charged. There is nothing wrong with extreme love, in the terms of the Greek agape. Wrong grows from that point. Unfortunately there isn’t a single line of measure, but in each of us infinite lines of possibility to be right and wrong. You've seen the sunrise; the point of light is you, the beams eminating are your potential, right and wrong.

Religion that teaches fear seems wrong to me. I feel spiritual and practice no religion. Now the question may be; when to take action? When in my physical realm events are such I must act from fear (and we do daily) how do I act? What exactly is the threat? Threats to our ego cause us to act ignorantly, and I see a lot of that in “Glumbertia”; though the strongest responses are presented articulately there is little logic and lots of emotion. My argument presented here, and those presented by others on a myriad of topics, rarely change the manner of thinking of the opponent, so character assassination typically ensues.

That is my answer to your question. Perhaps I am wrong, but you made me think, so it's your fault. Thank you for the challenge.

Woman allegedly stabs husband over gift
Fri Dec 21, 11:07 PM ET
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. - A woman stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife following an argument that began when she accused him of opening a Christmas present early, authorities said Friday.

Misty Johnson, 34, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery, a felony, and misdemeanor domestic battery. Her husband, Shawn Fay Johnson, 34, was treated at a hospital for a wound to the chest, police said.

Misty Johnson made an initial court appearance Thursday in which she requested a court-appointed attorney, authorities said. She was released after posting bail, which was set at $7,500.

There was no telephone listing for her in Rock Springs.

Authorities said Shawn Johnson called 911 just before 1 a.m. Wednesday to report that his wife had stabbed him. He told police that his wife started arguing with him over his opening a Christmas present, according to court records.

Hm, just thinking about the holy interstate thing. Many parts of the bible were translated from languages with other alphabeths than the latin. This allows for some interpretation of the actual correct letter. There should be many more holy roads in the world.

Maybe I should start a franchise of holy roads, attract a large crowd of followers and get insanely rich...

@ thebug: Like christianity?

To those who say allow others thier beliefs, explain how Atheiests are the single least trusted and downtrodden group of people in America at the moment? One self proclaimed Atheist holds any position of power (senate). In most states it is illegal by state law to get elected to office if you don't have a belief in a religion.

There is no room for extremism of any sort in today's world. Everything in moderation, even downright silly notions of invisible men in the sky. Faith is a necessary evil as it helps those who cannot cope with being responsible for anything, or being able to understand what caused it.

Why think for yourself or take responsibility for your actions? No one does it anymore. "My son shot someone, IT WAS THE MUSIC!". Idiot. "My dog died. God chose him for a reason". Moron. Had nothing to do with that mestacizing cancer or old age, AMIRITE? Dolt.
