If you don't look at the screen and just listen to the conversation, you can tell that pilot knew what was gonna happen and still the calmness in his voice........ I hope if I am ever in an emergency I have someone that calm at the wheel...... I would like to hear what he said to the passengers, what his voice sounded like when he was warning them of the water landing about to happen...... I love this man!!
I read an interview with him, if I remember it right he just announced "brace for impact". There was not much time for anything with the low altitude and shitty heading they had when the brids struck.
Perfect performance by the crew, forgetting to put the plane into water landing configuration is negligible to the fact that they saved everybody on board (especially since they had almost no time at all).
