People think compassion is what sets humans apart from the animals. If that proves to be untrue, what then? I think animals do feel compassion, it's been shown many times. I believe they feel love and care for their own, as well as others from different species. Including humans at times. They are intelligent, a trait which is thought to be human. It seems to me there is only one trait that sets humans apart from the animal kingdom, and that is humor. We can laugh at ourselves, and find amusement in almost anything. Animals are probably not capable of that aspect of our nature, although they seem to be able to comprehend almost everything else.
