Well, if you were to turn your head in the direction of the Middle East, you might notice kids barely more than toddlers that are wholly devoted to their religion. So devoted, in fact, that many of them probably won't live to be much more than toddlers.
I find myself continually overjoyed and dismayed at this planet and the people and things that inhabit it - depending on my state of mind at the time. At one turn we humans can be so distructive and decadent, at another we can be so compassionate and creative. Also the planet itself can be so beautiful and destructive. Weather and grass, elephants and insects, writing and music, all make me so euphoric (at times). War and disease, dishonesty and pollution, overconsumption and waste make me feel so . . . human.
I don't think I can attribute everything good or bad thing to God - or to humans for that matter. I just think these are things that make us understand the full spectrum of possibilities in this life. For what is life without death? What is joy without dispare? What is pimpin' without whores?
The way these guys feel God makes snow just for them, that's cool, because the guys down at the nuclear power plant feel the same way about ionizing radiation. Bzzzzzz -- I feel the power!
why is this here? The appeal to Christians of Jesus is: 1. answers for everything (even if the answers are total bull shit) 2. concrete idea of God... (a person you can relate to)
It's too bad it's so myopic and ignoramus.
God makes snow huh? What about just cold air and moisture?
Do Christians ever wonder WHY Jesus had to die on the cross for our sins to be forgiven? God is omnipotent, so why would he have to make some weird clone of himself to send down and be tortured to death? Why not just forgive us? Does he get off on the pain or something?
And on another note, would anyone but a Christian wear a hat like the green one seen at 30 seconds? For fuck sake people, I know you like to forgive, but at least let your co-delusionists know when they look like their mum dressed them. It is for their own good.
There is also the question of does God like Christians, since all religions may have nothing to do with what God wants. But being humans we always know what He wants.
All you have to do is pray to yourself, accept Jesus as your own personal savior, and that's it!!!
No kneeling and praying 5 times a day. Don't have to tithe 10% of your income. Don't have to do daily, weekly, monthly or yearly rituals. Just tell yourself that you are a friend to Jesus, and everything is set. Then you can act as badly as you want, but you are covered if the Grim Reaper visits.
Whatever makes a person feel better about themselves...
