Some times I think there should be an IQ test in order to be able to vote in this country.

Heard a while back that, surprisingly, there are enclaves of people in the hill country of the south, so distantly removed from the general progress of the country that their speech closely reflects the original "king's english" of revolutionary times, which is even different from the mother-tongue UK english of 2000 , and even separate from what is generally spoken in the US today. I found that profoundy interesting
The USA is so large, one can find in it just about every good and bad thing of life...that's just the way reality is.

I was on a motorbike trip in northern British Columbia,I swear I met their twins . No different I think it is a combination of low self esteem, lack of education,booze, and just not trying hard and giving up to easy.
Hard to take a guess at, if ya wanan count all the regime-changes, covert-ops and other various skullduggery that's been going on there, for the past six or seven decades or so.
