Now that is a complete falsehood. Most of us clergy are NOT, I repeat, NOT pedophiles. I get so sick of hearing this. Just because of a few bad apples! Your clergy are to be respected, not mocked. Well, enough for now. The paperboy is here and he looks thirsty. Wonder if he'd like a sponge bath.
A nun found two boys outside the church with their dicks in the snow she said what are you two boys doing they said its ok fathertim likes a couple of cold ones after service.
A Rabbi and a Catholic priest are stuck on a deserted island. The Priest tells the Rabbi, "I wish there was an altar boy here." "Why?", asked the Rabbi. "So, we can FUCK him!", says the priest. The Rabbi then asks, "Out of what?"
what seems to me to be creepier than the video, is the fact that we even need to put something like this on film so that our children can be warned that this CAN happen.
Bad video. No kid ought to be asked to act that part. Not to mention that it's graphic depiction might fall marginally short of pedophilia itself. This could not possibly be something meant for public display....or could it?
The Catholics are taking a beating (no pun intended) on this issue and have spent millions in "reparations" for the egregious and unforgiveable behavior of a number of pedophiles disguised as priests.
It may not end in my lifetime....certainly, pedophilia won't, tho' the RC Church may well have changed.
What is good is the raising of this abject baseness in public awareness so that it no longer is hidden behind embarassment and intimidation. What is bad is the broad-brush painting of the Catholic priesthood - I have known many...many, many...have always been moved by their selfless commitment to their roles as models for their "flock", whichever that might be.
OK....sorry to do a piece of venting, but there are so many good guys out there "of the cloth", I just cringe when I see the broad indictment of their lives and professions.
...also the broad indictment could have been averted if the church had acted within the spirit of their teachings, and not the dark economics of the Vatican bank.
So, IMHO the broad brush will be the burden that must be carried forever by all.
We watch children that age pretend to be possessed, or crazy, or stoned, or extreamly violent, or even act like playas/pimps in main stream movies all the time. Most of U Glumbertians have enjoyed such films in the past, so I wonder why so many were disturbed by this clip. I've seen way worse inferred on Family Guy, than u actually see here. It aint going to be in my 'Top Ten' list of clips to share with friends.... they may wonder exactly WHAT I use my computer for ;)
But as a father of a young boy myself, this is a complicated issue. On one hand (no pun intended! U bottle fed freeks!) how do I explain this whole issue to a kid that thinks wrestling is real? How does a parent inform the kids without making them paranoid about strangers?.... because I do believe that a stranger is just a freind U haven't met yet..... This video may be hard to watch(and that's a good thing, it means that your normal) but it does teach a delicate subject to kids, in a straitforward no BS manner. Personally I'm glad it's 'out there' on the web, I may show it to my kid some day..... or not...... But I am happy that it is available to those parents who just CAN'T talk about it to thier kids, if it helps even one kid it's worth my unease at having seen it.
If this video is shown in schools, to appropriate age group, with a properly-trained teacher on hand to introduce it and answer kids' questions, then it should serve a useful purpose.
I think we should remember that the context in which we are viewing it - Glumbert, the home of the odd, opinionated and insane - is not where it was intended to be seen.
In the UK, pre-school children are shown matchstick cartoon strips to warn them of the dangers of abusers. Sometimes I think that is a very patronising approach. I know this video might make us squirm and feel very uneasy, but look at it this way - If it alerts just one child to the tactics an abuser might use, then it will have served a useful purpose.
Another issue here is the role of "Mrs MacGregor". How many partners and spouses of abusers are either blind to the problem or remain silent out of shame, fear or a desire to protect the abuser? I think kids SHOULD be made aware of these issues. Sweeping child abuse under the carpet, as was done not so many years ago, is not the answer. Far too many little people have suffered because no-one believed them or would even listen to them.
its true. nobody died. i knew they were old pervs but lots of people are. they didn't rape me or anything. i got five dollars and told tokeep quiet. trauma's overrated.
To say that all priests are child molesters is just an excuse to dismiss religion. Some people are uncomfortable with their relationship with God or the teachings of the Church. So to justify themselves and ease their minds, they convince themselves that all people in a religious vocation are nothing more than pediphiles and money hungry phoneys. And they use the actions of few to persecute many. A few are corrupt. A few are perverted. Yes. Just like teachers, grandparents, doctors, dentists, etc. But just because I heard on the news that a dentist molested someone, I'm not going to put that on MY dentist. I could say that all dentists are perverts as an excuse not to go to the dentist if I wanted to just like people say that all priests are perverts as an excuse not to learn more about God or religion. But the bottm line is that it just wouldn't be be true. My dentist doesn't do that to me. Neither does my priest. The media has a way of distorting reality, but we don't have to buy it. We don't have to take what they feed us. Not all Police give people beatings. Not all pit bulls attack children. Not all teachers have sex with their students. Not all Middle-Easterns blow up buildings. Not all black people are drug dealers and low life pimps. Not all Asians are bad drivers. (Well, I don't know about that one.) Not all gothic kids go on killing sprees. And not all Church faculty are child molesters.
I mean I think if I were like 10 years old that would freak me out even more, but like what they always told us in school during "Family Education" week, somebody's gotta do a parents' dirty work. I don't think I could ever bring myself to talking about the issues to my children (if I ever had any).
That being said, I guess thats why "Family Education/Life" week is there. For me, it was way more creepier to hear shit from my parents than from some crazy nurse with her pants hiked up to her boobs. The only bad thing about "Family Life" education is that it scares people into abstinence.
I mean abstinence is a good thing, but I don't think you should put fear into kids heads like they do. I'm one paranoid mofo when it comes to that shit. I think its because of that crazy scary nurse with her pants hiked up to her boobs.
I would criticize this, but it is probably the most tasteful way to tell kids. That other video of the guy singing with the boy in his lap was creepier than this.
