No dumbass it IS an illusion. There are photo receptor cells called rods and cones on your retina which fire off through the optic nerve to the brain. The colors you initially see in the picture cause specific cells to fire off and after looking at the focal point for 15 seconds it means those cells get a sort of "burn in" effect. Similar to what happens when a flash goes of on a camara and you retain that blue spot in your vision for a while. Got it??

Um... all arguments aside. Very cool trick. I understand the principle (or thought I did until I saw this), but it really gets me that it sticks as long as it does until you move your eyes. Never saw an illusion that did that.
