I'd suggest most Europeans tend to stick their noses up at crap cars whether they come from Europe or not. The origin ain't that important, the build quality, reliability, fuel consumption, handling and performance are what matters.
I recently saw a Discovery program called Translatlantic challenge - they had the temerity to suggest the Corvette Z06 was a better supercar than the Ferrari 360 Modena?!
Piffle
(In fairness the latest Corvette IS by some huge margin the best sports car that Chevy have EVER produced and it's managed GT1 Le Mans victories so I'm not saying it's crap. It isn't! It just ain't nowhere near as good at being a complete every day package in comparison to the Modena when you factor in handling, build quality etc. Sorry)
You are obviously not a Top Gear fan. If you were, you would realize that Clarkson's arrogance is just part of the fun on this show. You should check it out. Very entertaining.
Clarkson is Mr Arrogant himself, he’s also known for the following books:
I'm arrogant so fuck off
Don't say a word I’ll destroy you with my arrogance
You think you’re cool, go fuck yourself I’m the best
Germany manufacture the best cars across the board in the vorld, VW or Audi own Bentley, bugatti and Lamborghini , ok Ferrari are on their own I think and are probably the best in the world . But for me Porsche...the 911’s from 1965-1973 the mark ones, what a car!
Americans cars, what are we talking here, Chrysler crossfire? Ok I loved corvettes and Pontiacs as a kid but I soon found out they don’t go to good
What cars do Americans make that are driven in Europe, jeep? What else?, your nearly as bad as Britain who sold their soul and now only make TVR’s I think, all other makes have gone or has been sold to zee Germans
Sure, the build quality and style of European cars is top notch, but alos their price tags. American cars are good value for money - at least some of them. One thing, though, really makes me wonder: How on earth can you paint a car with "wood coloring"?
I want a 1977 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser that gets 3 miles per gallon and stinks like shit. Then, I'll run it over with a metacrawler from work. What fun!
The funniest thing about Clarkson is that he constantly derides anything American, including American cars, but yet he just took delivery of a Ford GT.
None of zese cars are kvik enough! If you vant to go up ze Col like ein bat von hell, take ein Caterham und put ein Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle engine in it. If you survive, you vill haf beaten ze crap out of zese "supercars" vith ein machine costing less zan $40,000 to build.
You vill also haf no enamel left on your teeth und extremely brown unterpanten, but zis is ein small price to pay. I know of vich I speak, because I vonce owned von. Conchita refused to travel vith me unless she vos ekvipped vith ein parachute und ein stomach pump.
Vy pay ze price of ein house for ein fast car?
the caterham is a lump shizen heir adolf , i am suprised that the porsche was not your car of choice begin from the fatherland .
i owned a 1972 911 2.4 e i also spun this mother of a beast on the motorway at night, i then drove home at -10 mph with a lump of something in the underpants , hence my name , i then sold it because i like living sometimes
Geez skid, I was thinking your "handle" referred more to something like what a 911 turbo would leave, you know spinning it tires trying to catch up to the Z 06 Corvette! lol I have two friends with 911's one's a turbo, (forget the years) they are nice cars but, they both complain of the constant repair (and cost of that repair) then the massive loss of value $125,00 turbo now worth (in perfect condition) $40,000...at $80,000 I'll take the vette, but if you have the money to throw at a Porsche 911 GT 2 $200,000 530 hp, why not (at half the price) get a 2008 ZR1 aka "blue devil" with 650 hp!
well i was lucky to have that classic, i put all my savings in to get it, i haven't got alot of money, far from it, hence i sold it, while i had it i enjoyed it but you're right about the repair costs
i'm well behind on whats available now and to be honest driving bores me a bit know unless you're on roads like this clip, any how i haven't got the money your talking about.
I'm with ya on the lack of money for nice cars...in my days of driving fun,(70s) I had a 66 Mustang, 69 rs Camaro convertible (really miss that one) 68 GTO (lots of tickets) and a 69 El Camino. It was nice when gas was .27 cents a gallon! I know what you mean about the drive being boring, with all the jammed up streets, out of synch stop lights, kinda takes the fun out of it.
The best part is watching the enlish try to drive, hasn't been a good one since Moss.
They should try driving skyway drive in ElPaso, you have mexicans driving interfearance.
another note How do I adjust the buffering?
I assume you know who these following post-Moss drivers are?:
John Surtees (F1 world champ AND World Bike champ)
Jackie Stewart (
Graham Hill,
Nigel Mansell
Damon Hill (Graham's son)
David Coultard
Jensen Button
Dario Franchetti,
John Surtees (F1 world champ AND World Bike champ)
Jackie Stewart (F1 world champ)
Graham Hill (F1 World Champ, Indy 500 and Le Mans winner)
Nigel Mansell (F1 World Champ and US Champ car racer - where did he place I don't know?)
Jim Clarke (F1 world champ and Indy 500 racer - again not sure where he placed there)
Damon Hill (Graham's son and F1 world champ)
David Coultard (F1 racer but personally I think he's lost the edge)
Jensen Button (as above for Coultard)
Dario Franchetti (he's done pretty well hasn't he?)
And then that german Schumacker - immensely talanted bastard. Better than Senna you think?
That said I think this is from a list of International Hall of Motorsport Famers.
I looked through it and saw the small print (focuses primarily on domestic US nascar racers)
...and you've never seen a driver until you've seen a 13 year old Mancunian in a stolen Ford Escort Cosworth
Honestly! I spent time in Manchester for a few years during the height of their 'joy riding' epidemic. These kids were disgusting little shits but christ could some of them drive...
Michael Schumacher maybe was the best driver there has ever been. Though this years F1 season did bring a big surprise with Lewis Hamilton (UK) who is likely going to win the world championship next weekend and that in his first year in F1.
I lived there for about 15 years - gradually moving from South to North; Somerset to Oxfordshire to Manchester then Yorkshire. Top Gear was and still is a big favourite of mine. The joys of reruns on cable BBC Entertainment cable are all I have now...
If I write in a 'British' way I guess it's because I'm using the english language, and it's my first language. Sorry if it offends but my written Swedish (right?) ain't good so english has to suffice :-)
Let's just say that whilst I won't exactly be cheering the Springboks in the Rugby World Cup finals, my alliegance is a little split! LOL
