First...actually, there WAS a sort of competition for first postings. It ended a short while back, but the uniqueness of a first posting still seems to be enjoyed by many. Harmless, doncha think?
As I said before.... This guy just got his badge, found out his wife is cheating on him, and earlier in the morning found out his 12 year old daughter is pregnant. If you keep skating like that kid, your gonna get your ass killed. Lucky the guy wasn't issued a gun or there would be a hole in the kid's knee cap.
Skateboarding on the sidewalk; You spend a night in the box. Calling this guy Dude; You spend a night in the box. Talking to a goofy looking cop like dad; You spend a night in the box. Getting it all on camera, and posting it to the internet; Priceless
Don't you wonder how this filmed episode will impact on the career of our "to serve and protect" dude....oops....police officer?
Damn....what a way to impress our youth with the system they will inherit. The kid might suck, who knows....but this brutish bully with a badge....how do we get rid of him?
Zis man looks like Sheriff Kongeriel of ze Platte County Police Department. See www.adolfvanker.com But he is ein Dumkopf! I sink he is angry because he has to vear zese stupid lederhosen to vork. His vife probably laughs like ein hyena every time he puts on his uniform (und also ven he takes it off).
adolf - I have to agree because if I saw this guy in that 'uniform' I would find it very difficult to keep from laughing. I would guess that these kids and everyone else in the city has the same problem and this guy just snapped when they laughed at him.
Got to agree with you both....he's taking out his frustration with his own "personhood" (doncha love those eclectic terms) by his aggressive exercise of power over a 14 year old kid. How pathetic.
Yeah, sounded like he was gearing up for another rant, "You got that camera on? If I find myself on......" cut off. Was he about to say Glumbert? LOL!
He could have handled that better. Yes, kids need to learn respect, but that "dude" was an asshole about it.
All sports are dangerous. Sorry some kid's parents are assholes. As the wife of a skateboarder, I can assure you the kid wanted no part in the lawsuit talk. Skateboarders know they can get hurt, even severly and they are not concerned.
I'm glad the cop got suspended, except for the fact that he is getting paid leave. Yeah, gettin a free vacation for being a total douchebag.
No 1 has even said anything about OFFICER LARD ASSES CAR i thought he was a parking official this guy should not be dealing with the public in my opinion OFFICER FAT DUDE is a HOT HEADED FREAK. Now i do agree on the skateboarding being dangerous we used to get kids jumping infront of my shop and 1 of them did crack his head open and his parents threatened to sue me but i feel this officer went to far
Pigs get nooooo respect from me talking like that... I'm a man too, so talk to me like one.. Give a person a badge and gun and oh boy they think they can talk to anyone crazy...
They're both idiots, stop calling me??????????? how about "I'm offcier so-in-so and you are?"
Bad cops, bad kids, someone is always bad in someones eyes.
Every single policy, re: professional conduct, Use-Of-Force, several criminal code violations and simple human decency, has been smashed to bits by this man.
I saw NOTHING in those lads, to warrant the treatement they recieved. At all. If any of those boys did not have an anti-police outlook before this incident, I wouldn't blame them if they did so after this nonsense. The fact that whatever point he was trying to make to them, he couldn't do without screaming at them, threatening them, putting his hands on them, etc.
The truly sad part is, is that is that this is EXACTLY the kind of policeman that will give his colleagues (the majority of whom most likely DO have a genuine desire to help their communities, and keep them safe) a bad name. Especially in the eyes of those lads, as well as the millions on the 'Nets, who will now watch this buffoon make an ass of himself. This is the kind of person in my line of work, that we would call a "heat score"; that is to say, if you're near him, he'll eventually say or do something stupid, that will impact on YOU, and draw you into the quagmire. In short, YOU'LL get burned.
If that was my kid (and trust me: he steps outta line with a teacher, police officer or whatever....he will get hauled onto the carpet....by me, and it will be PROPORTIONATE to the offence), then Officer Riviera and I would be having a LONG, INTENSE dialogue, away from prying eyes and cameras.
He nakes a lecture to this lads about how they "disrespected his badge".
Yet it took him all of three minutes to accomplish that nicely, on his own.
Well put Canuck. I for one do try to judge on individual behavior, and not lump all law enforcers in his area into the same attitude he has. For all the good people who try to do right every day, there's always one that's going to try and drag you down. Why is that I wonder?
I agree, he made a fool out of himself and did far more damage to his badge and people's opinion of it than that 14 year old boy. It's a shame that one idiot can tarnish the reputation of many.
My whole point, ramblerouser, that is regardless of the foundation of the terms, both names are derogatory, generalized labels, designed to inflict hurt on the group in question, and paint the whole canvas with one broad stroke of the same brush.
Whether they're based on racial epithets, referring to farm animals, a persons colour, their ethnicity or whatever.....is a moot point.
Police officers have worked hard for their badge...this should earn them some respect.
Police officers put their lives on the line EVERY SINGLE DAY, this should earn them a lot of respect.
When a police officer "stops" you, you should ALWAYS give him or her the respect they deserve.
Even though he seemed like a klazomaniac, he was getting no respect while performing his duties. I'm sure he could have hauled the kid in for breaking the law, which he was clearly doing, that would only have made this kids life harder. Instead he gave a little lesson in respect, which this kid needs in a bad way, I did hear him say he had no father. I so wish the rest of this video played out!
I see absolutely nothing wrong with this cops handling of the situation, he didn't even use profanities, he did let the punk kid get to him, but he reeled it back in...I think, depends how the rest went, he mentions at the last second, "If I find myself on..."???? Damn if only it played out!
Given what we saw in this clip, do YOU believe that this man was justified in his actions with a couple of minors, given that he is in a position of trust and authority, and should lead by example (and not just because he's a cop, but an adult)?
Plus, (and think about this for a sec).....would YOU be comfortable being his partner in this situation...watching him?
Miter I agree, he was very close to losing it. this kid, I should use the word punk, for he was no dude, is in dire need os parenting. Hell I would have shot him.
C, I know the whole thing wouldn't have gone down that way if the kid showed even a touch of respect, which as I stated above, should be automatic. I'm also assuming here, that we are missing some key facts in the altercation, all those references to "hearing", something led up to this.
I agree with what you're saying about him being "in a position of trust and authority" and he should always conduct himself professionally. I suppose he was too harsh in that light. You mentioned "gangs" the other day, if this kid smarts off like that to everyone he's either going to end up a gang member, or dead from one...But if he learns respect, like the cop said "the longer you're going to live in this world" which I believe is what he meant by that.
So here we have a cop, in a big city, with a HORRIBLE gang problem, with kids like this dying almost everyday, of which he so intimately gets to witness, all while not getting enough "down time" so without knowing this person and the big picture, it's hard to say.....I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Would I be comfortable being his partner? Yes I could, when I was younger my own temperament was not too different, but I'd certainly be less of a dick to youngsters! I know several cops personally, one is very similar in temperament to this guy. But knowing him as a friend, I can see through some of it as BS, macho, tough guy, crap, pure and simple, so I guess it's all a matter of perspective.
C the kid was breaking the law...period! When you cross the line and get "busted" you lose your right to go on your merry way, then if you struggle with an officer in opposition to him (resisting), you get slammed! He was handled in a rough manner yes, but he wasn't eating concrete like an adult would have.
Does that mean we start putting the Vulcan Death Grip on folks who Jaywalk?
I mean, shit....I'm just trying to see some proprtionate balance here, relative to what was said/done by these kids, versus what the actions of the officer were.
Miter dude - you are full of it. The cop threatened and assaulted this 14 year old kid. Period. So the kid was skateboarding where he should not have. You either call his parents, or write a ticket. You don't get to start berating the kid because you don't like his attitude or because you have a dangerous, difficult job. This idiot is a disgrace to his badge, his department, and needs to have some more training on how to interact with the public without showing such a power trip.
Alright folks, I change my position, I was really only playing devils advocate anyway, but you are all correct, this "dude" is a disgrace to the badge! I was thinking if that were my kid, what my response would be...not pretty I assure you!
And what do you do? To state someone should lose there job, they where only words, one would have to be an auth'dy of human nature. We all get tested everyday, think, have you ever lost-it, maybe driving, a stranger that set you off?
Anger managerment kills, go to the edge of control, but stay in control, he did, we all do.
Have I ever lost it? Sure. Has "losing it" ever resulted in me going off on a bunch of kids? Never. That cop wasn't acting like a cop, he was acting like a bully (and sadly misinformed about what dude means in contemporary western culture). If a cop can't manage to instill trust in the people he swore to protect, then he has no business being a cop.
Here's my take. Yes, the cop went over the top. Yes he was out of line. I imagine he, like anyone, has a breaking point. The unbelievable lack of respect for anyone that many of todays parents instill in their children is criminal. Children are brought up from the day they are born as if they are already adults. Newsflash, children need to be children and treated as so until they are old enough to earn the title of "adult". Ask yourself this (anyone over 25 or so), when you were young, did you call adults by their first name? Hell no, they were Mr. So and so or Mrs. What'shername. Respect, it's almost completely gone. Go ahead, call me old fashioned, buy you have six year olds telling adults to "Fuck off". Don't know about you, but that was a one way ticket to punishmentville not so long ago. Too many parents now want to be their kid's best friend first, parent second. Doesn't work that way. Kid's already have friends, be their parent and TEACH them right from wrong. Am I saying that you should spank your kids? That's not my way, but it sure worked pretty damn well for the last 1000 years.
I've believed that for a long time, Billy-B, with the whole parents-not-teaching-their-kids-any-respect-manners angle. Personally, I kinda think that since we require people to have a licence for driving, practicing medicine, hunting, drinking in a public establishment, etc....then maybe requiring potential "parents" who want to have kids, should have a licence as well. This way, you can weed out all the idiots who have NO clue, as to how to raise/deal with/cope with/teach children.
So who can you really blame? The kids?
Or the moronic bio-units that raised them, to be what they are?
Hey C, don't blame the kids at all. I strongly believe that procreation should require a written test. Most important thing in the world, yet no way to regulate it at all. Don't even need a blood test anymore.
Here ya go, Billy-B.....I'll toss you this example from my True-Life Files:
Two years ago, my brother-in-law (who's a police detective in Missouri) and his wife came up to visit us in the summer, in Toronto.
We took a day with all of our kids, and headed downtown to spend the day. It was goddamn hot, humid and sticky. We walked, and walked. We all must have lost weight that day. Anyways, we decided to hop on the subway at Spadina Station, right? Well, we get there....and there's a long line up to the kiosk booth....and it ain't moving. That's because some fucking stooge at the window up there, is arguing with the transit employee about some change that's due him.....fifty-cents. FIFTY-CENTS! And here we are, sweating it out, kids are tired, we're tired and it was awful. So what happens?
I start screaming at this fucking plank up there.
"HEY! GET MOVING, ASSHOLE! STOP HOLDING UP THE LINE FOR YOUR FIFTY-FUCKIN' CENTS, BEFORE I COME UP THERE AND SLAP YA INTO NEXT WEEK!!"
He got the point. He moved.
Later, my wife got on to me about it, asking how I'm going to justify my behaviour to our kids, who saw the whole thing. We do or best to teach them to act a certain way, show courtesy, respect, and how just because we get mad, it's no reason to act like Attila The Hun, etc. So now what?
Y'know...I was a little upset at first that she didn't see my way of it....but in the end.....she was right. So I had to sit our kids down, and have THE Talk.
As responsible adults, we MUST lead by example (or so I believe).
The officer was way off base. In this confrontation it was his responsiblity to be the adult. Shitty kids often come from good parents...I'm sure you all know that. Shitty officers come from where? The officer accelerated a minor incident to a major issue....period. He was a self appointed parent/punisher, and an unforgiveably intimidating bully with a badge.
Shameful.
Gives law-enforcement a black eye.
As to the kid's parents, does anyone know them, or anything about them? I am not quick to place blame there, having raised (certainly not by myself) seven kids, and having had to deal with their various quirky transitions from little kids to responsible adults. And I promise, ever remembering the seige on my home following a basketball game that had almost a hundred youths swarming my and my neighbors' property, that I am not a "moronic" member of a "bio-unit". Neither was the other member, I promise...she was the "person who must be obeyed" in our "bio-unit", to say the least.
Just venting a bit....good parents have often been afflicted by, well, questionable offspring...even criminal offspring. Not MY kids (re: criminal), but enough troublesome that I can easily sympathize with parents of wayward kids. Today, I have one lawyer, one IT expert, one machine engineer specialist, one homemaker, another homemaker, a Captain in his own MP Company currently training for a late spring deployment to Bahgdad, and a newly pregnant beautiful expectant mother/special ed teacher. So much for my bio-unit.
Last word....the officer needs to go away. Maybe get into the Marines (probably too old and out of shape), or into waste management....just a thought. That was a bit typecasting, wasn't it...except the Marine part..
"The unbelievable lack of respect for anyone that many of todays parents instill in their children is criminal." -billboat
Criminal. I'm sure you meant the statement in other terms but to say that lacking respect for others is criminal or leads to unlawful acts does not instill a criminal mind. These kids couldn't hear him, there was no indication of lack of respect. The kid obeyed his orders and handled himself pretty well considering he thought the actions against him were unjust. The only one at fault here is the cop. To say that "lack of respect" is making these kids, and all other teens, turn into criminals, is pretty severe if you ask me.
C the other side of that coin is, do we all just except being annoyed, delayed, hurt, disrespected, rights trampled, etc., etc., or do someone have the balls to step up and say/do something about it! I really like the one who does! So good job C, the fucker had it coming! I bet your kids were proud of Dad that day! My Dad popped off on a few schmoes back in the day, I know I was digging it!
We all own the moment, we react, we yell, we do what ever we must, I don't think C was wrong, what's important is he sat with his kids, I would say the 50 cent was holding up a dollar. Someone had to speak-up. I would.
Now words, My parents alway said "do get killed because of words" so I look at the word as nothing more than a project from someone. It's the way the words are used that cause problems.
Same here Miter. My dad is 82 and still wont tolerate a fool. I am much the same way. Funniest thing you've ever seen, if my dad is at a light next to someone with one of those over the top, thundering sub woofer sound systems set to "TILT", he starts bouncing to the beat until they get the hint.
Next cop that calls me son gets the middle finger. And I'll end up beaten to a pulp... and millions richer when I sue the government for police brutality.
I agree florida every1s going on about cops risking there lives(which is true) but lets face it we are dealing wqith a couple 14 yr olds there no threat this guy is like a drill sgt not a cop my opinion the guy is a GIANT ASS
This message is for you that shed alligator tears for that 14 year old asswipe that thinks the world was created just for him. The cop was more than patient when he first approached these kids. The kid was disrespectful.
Cops put up with WAY to much crap. The only fault with the cop is that he didn't rip the kids head off.
I'm a retired ex-cop and serve on an oversight panel for a large city police department. The officer in question here would be disciplined for this conduct in almost every city in the country, given this video. His lack of respect for the badge he wears through his conduct was shameful. In my department, he would be suspended for a week without pay and made to apologize.
That is not to forgive the kids, but cops are held to a higher standard in such circumstances. They did nothing that would have allowed him to put hands on them.
cops deserve respect when they treat others with respect ... not before period !! these assholes only go into this line of work because they're power trippers. that was the worst display of disrespect i've ever seen ... by a cop !
god i remember when iwas about that old. I can remember feeling real shitty because some prick teacher or coach or someone would just scream at me like that because he felt disrespected or wanted to show how tough he was or something, i dont think the kid meant any disrespect he was scared of the cop who was yelling at him from the get go which is why he acted the way he did.
it doesnt make you feel when you get yelled at and screamed at like that. kid is 14 how can anyone say the cop had any right to behave the way he did?
I like how satman put it..."cops are held to higher standards in such circumstances". I agree 100%. I have the highest regards for individuals who serve the public like police, fire and 1st responders.....but since they are still only human they still must deserve the respect.
This man may have started out calm and rational(for like 10 sec) but as soon as I heard him say "give it to me and I'll smack you upside the head" he lost my respect and turned into just another hot-headed bully that likes to throw his weight , badge and most likely fists around.
So to everyone out there... How would you have handled the kid.... or if you were the kid how differently would have you reacted?
I have worked directly with the public (medical field) and have had to diffuse many a situation but that kind of behaviour just makes things worst. I hope his ass got canned but I'm sure he just had to tuck his balls between his legs for a 5 sec suck up and now secretly has a grudge and plan to take us all down.
I believe that the 14 year old youth was not injured. We haven't seen the whole lead up to "I didn't hear you dude". But I do know that at the end of the tape the 14 year old youth was behaving with a different (and correct) attitude than when we first see him in the tape. I believe that the Police Officer was carrying on with the "Don't call me Dude!" routine to elicit the exact response we saw in the (not so lippy) youth at the end of the tape. Perhaps it will go something like this next time. COP: "Hey kids!" You're breaking the law skateboarding there". KID: "Sorry Officer (picking up his board). I guess we'll head for the skate park".
If the Kid had half a brain, this is how it should have gone the first time.
When exactly did the kid break the law?I don't know where this, or any of you, are from or what your laws are, but it doesn't look like the kid was doing anything other than skateboarding. Skateboarding, last I checked, wasn't illegal. I mean, I haven't heard of any underground skateboard shops being raided on the news lately.I end with..... Respect for a police officer should be earned right then and there each time he comes in contact with a member of the public. If he presents himself in a respectable manor he should get your full and utmost respect. If not, then fuck that pig and the horse he rode in on sideways up a tree .... or something along those lines.
Actually, in most urban areas skateboards are forbidden. When the kids ride the stairs and and bannisters they are degrading public property by wearing and cracking the surfaces. Throw in out of control stunts and the risk of injury to pedestrians or falling in traffic. The cop was wrong, but the kids don't have any respect for the public at large either...
Don't spit in the cop's burger..... Someone's gonna kill you if you keep skateboarding like that. I guess he's that bad at skating..... I dunno. Must be from California, just got a badge earlier that morning, getting divorced, just foreclosed on his mortgage, and found out his 12 year old daughter is pregnant.
What retard came up with that outfit for their cops. It looks like he has his pants hiked up to his chest. I mean Black and light yellow. Wtf? I want to laugh just looking at that clown suit.
Disagree about respect being earned.
Human dignity, on its face, presupposes respect.
I believe it is given by virtue of humanity...and, I guess, can be lost.
With yesterday's storm I was stuck at home so I watch Roger (dodger) testi'f before the senate, I know Clemens give a lot to the GOP but this was ajoke, most gop's came out with the gee wiz crap. The guy can say good bye to the Hall, of course he says the hall of fame doesn't mean crap to him, he wont have to worry about it. Very sad, Lets go red sox.
There are a gazillion different ways I would have approached this, and Im pretty sure I would have achieved sensible results, evenn taking into account if I had a problem being addressed as "dude" (normally, I hate being a Monday Morning Quarterback, but t to hell with it):
"OY! You guys! You two! Yeah, that's right! You TWO! C'mere for a sec, ok?"
(boys pick up there skateboards, and approach, as I tap my citation book with my pen)
"You guys live around here? Ya? Okay. Now listen, fellas. I don't know if you're aware of it or not, but people around here have gotten real pissed off about young bucks like yourselves, racing up and down here on skateboards and have complained about it, right? This is why the city has made a by-law that says NO SKATEBOARDING here. The simple reason, is that they don't want to see anyone get hurt--including yourselves--and expect it to just stop. Right?"
Boy #1: "Okay, but were just......"
Me: "Look...forget what you were "just" whatever, awright? All I'm telling you, is a simple way to do things, to save yourselves (and me) some grief down the road. Is that so hard?"
Boy #2: "No, it ain't. But listen, dude, all we were doing, is......"
Me: ""Dude"? "DUDE"? Listen, kid, don't think of me as an uptight asshole, but for reasons I'm not gonna get into with you right now, I personally have a problem with being addressed as "dude", okay? I'd appreciate it, if you simply said "Officer", or.....(pointing to my name tag)....."Officer So-and-so".....okay? By the way, what's YOUR name?"
Boy #2: (mumbles something)......"Bush".
Me: (looks at him dead-pan) "Bush? Bush, huh? You got any relatives in politics? (kid shakes his head) No? Good. I was starting to feel like arresting ya, just on general principle----KIDDING! I'm only kidding! (both boys maybe start chuckling at this)
(looks at other kid)
Me: "And how 'bout you? You a hockey fan?"
Boy #1: "Yeah! Sure am!"
Me: "No shit! Who's your team?"
Boy #1: "Red Wings"
(another dead-pan look from me, this time with a gulp)
Me: "Ummmm...sooo...one of you is named "Bush"....and the other is a Red Wings fan....christ. Are you boys just BEGGING TO BE TAKEN TO JAIL???" Kidding! Just kidding! (pause, after hopefully a few chuckles) Listen, seriously guys, pick up your skateboards, and take it elsewheres, okay? I don't need the hassle...and YOU don't need the hassle. Because if you keep this up, I'm gonna have to write a citation, and maybe even call your folks, and THAT'S no goddamn good.....is it?"
(they shake their heads)
Me: "Well, okay then." (putting my citation book away) "Now go on. And if I hear any cracks about my outfit, I'm gonna lose it. Bad."
Boy #2: "'Scuse me, du----I mean...Officer....."
Me: "Well? What is it?"
Boy #2: "Who's YOUR team?"
Me: "The Leafs"
Boy #2: "Oh."
Boy #1 (after looking me up and down) "Figures".
Me: "HUH?? WHAT WUZ ZAT??"
Both boys: "Nuthin! Nuthin! Bye!"
(both leave, and laugh at the same time.....and damned if I'M not laughing as well)
This may or may not have played out this way, because as with all things of this nature....things are always fluid out in the field. I just know that I would have at least STARTED out this way, and went from there.
In the end, it's what I like to believe, at any rate.
Oshawa Generals????Lots of greats came from that team Eric Lindros mind u the last couple years of his career werent that great and with the spitting on a chick incident in a Whitby Ontario bar anyway........
I seem to remember a SNL skit with some people dressed up as bumblebees. If this guy had some antennae on his hat, and a yellow belt, and a yellow baton it would be that BEE costume.
I bet the guys down at the department ar laughing because they told him that this is the uniform, and that is the car, but he is the only one out patrolling like this.
Actually, even if the officer stepped beyond what was supposed to do, the kid was a being a total fag. The officer adopted the role of a parent more than he did a law enforcer, but regardless, I really have no sympathies with the kid. Really, that kid just needed to be beaten more by his parents.
Furthermore, it seemed to have started out peacefully, and if the kid just bothered to stop trying to ignore the cop as if he'd go away, then they could have got off with just a warning. That kid has an attitude that he just can't put away, and they ARE skating on public property, doing stunts/tricks (and not using it as a method of solely transportation) and the video does clearly show that this is a busy walkway for many pedestrians. It wouldn't be surprising if this area explicitly has a sign for no skateboarders, and these kids just ignored it.
I think this situation is entirely about that uniform and that car.
Truth is that people make judgments based on visual data, and the visual data this guy is sending out is: I'm dressed like a clown, and I drive around in a clown car just like at Disney World. Now lets be honest folks, we all make these judgments based on what we see, because it is all we have if we don't know the person(s).
A millionaire wearing scruffy old clothes will be watched like a hawk to see if he is shoplifting, and the thief will be ignored whilst wearing his stolen finery.
IMHO this entire situation could be avoided by giving this cop a authoritarian uniform, and car. The thing about teenagers is they are only beginning to form their behavioral structure to cope with the society in which they live. Their visual reaction to this uniform and car are the same as the reaction they have when seeing this same situation in Disney World. The linkage to danger regardless of visual cue's is a very adult level of reasoning that teenagers seldom have.
It also sucks for a person in authority to have to represent that authority in a silly clown uniform, and clown car. It's not fair to the officer either. I also bet this uniform was chosen by someone who thought it would look non-threatening and cute. Lets face it the kids would have reacted totally differently if he was wearing a SS uniform, and driving a Humvee.
Pods - kind of agree with you! The first thing I noticed was how ridiculous that little noddy car looked... Guaranteed to generate cynicism if he's trying to exert authority
That said, he was still way, way over the top. Probably letting off some steam after feeling so pathetic driving round in that thing...
...thought about this some more and you know what?
FUCK IT
Most kids today seem to behave as if they own the fucking world and I know I'll sound like a miserable old git in saying so but if he gave the cop lip then he certainly deserves the verbal shoutdown and to be made to think about his lack of respect in as forceful a manner as possible.
The phsyical side of what we saw WAS a step too far (although God knows I would love to taser / drown / shoot cheeky little disrespectful turds like this), but for fuck's sake, the increasing political correctness we all have to suffer when the truth hits you right in the face (namely some teen kids are fucking scum) means the majority suffer at the hands of a minority that thinks it's untouchable.
I should not be allowed to carry weapons.
GOOOOOSE FRAAA BAAAAAA
And breath...
It's Friday and I'm off skateboarding... enjoy the weekend Glumbertarians
It comes down to respect: bottom line. When the cop says don't do that. You say.. sorry officer I won't do it. Then walk away. Giving attitude to a cop is something you just don't do. This is what happens when little white boys mouth off to authority. These kids were never disciplined by their parents. Probably because their own parents lack discipline. I agree w/ the cop.... And i'm not pro cop either. It's just known.... Don't fuck w/ cops. Dumb kids! In Los Angeles...you learn at a young age not to challenge the popos. ..rich suburban white kids need to learn this.
Now that is a really bad attitude. Cops should not be fearsome figures that you avoid. But examples like this one generate a negative image, he definitely should receive disciplinary measures and if he does not adjust he should be removed from service.
"To serve and protect" should not just be hollow words for cops and citizens.
one of the kids said the word "dude" which the cop did not like too much. there was no excuse or reason for the cops behavior. there was no disrespect.
To Canuck1963: You really think this cop blew up on the first instance of these skaters skating. I doubt it. They were probably warned over and over, yet still persisted to grind up the benches. Sure the cop yelled in excess but i feel it was justified. The reason why I say "white" kids, no respect" is because in my whole life the only people i've seen mouth off to cops are "white kids". The lack of respect to cops is astounding. Us "kids of color" are afraid of cops so we do our best to steer clear from them. Whatever they say we do. But not the white kids... they say fuck you to cops they are disrepectfull, don't respect authority, etc. It amazes me. That's all im saying. BTW: The cops in CANADA are much different than L.A. cops. L.A. cops will FUCK YOU up at a drop of a hat. So... that's my basis of how to deal w/ police. Say yes sir and be polite or else you will get a beat down. And that's the real world bro...
the yellow cop could yell at the kid all he wanted, but he should not have touch him like he did. Maybe he has a 14 year old at home that doesn't listen to him? I am sure this vid will be the runation of him.
Way to go!!!! I grew up in Baltimore and think what the officer said is correct. If parents would take a stand and put a foot up their kids butts every now and then they wouldn't be such jerks!
Skateboarding is not a crime. This cop is probably a diddler. angry angry!! Sounds like he is repeating what his diddler father said to him 35 years ago!
Wow. I agree....most officers are pretty good. What an A$$. If i caught him doing that to my son we would have a problem. Not to mention a new skateboard. DICK!
Have you been on vacation?? Yes, he was "suspended", with pay, but what they actually did to put him to work doing "administrative duties". His ass is on the line for sure. A second teenager has filed a complaint against him, for kicking a kid on a bicycle, causing the kids leg to break part of the bike. (???) And, of course, there's a second video of this moron, kicking an RC car that a student/artist was videoing for ...... art's sake? ..... and then gently suggesting the young man move along.
I hope this cretin gets arrested for assaulting this 14 yr old. He needs to lose his badge, his benefits, and his freedom!
ive nothing but respect for cops-they do a hell of a job. This fuck, lets just call him dude, IS A PIG! Fuck you cop, you should be takin' 1 in the ass in the state penn for a while! Who the fuck does he think he is? Man I hope he sits and reads these. Prick better not be a cop anymore! Assaulting a kid on a skateboard? WATTA DICK
Hey, kid! When you see an overweight guy in a canary yellow shirt and shorts, YOU SHOW RESPECT!! Only a kid from "the county" wouldn't know that! What a tool.
