Scully: You know, Mulder, you are Ahab.

Mulder: You know, its interesting you should say that, because I've always wanted a peg leg. It's a boyhood thing I never grew out of. I'm not being flippant, I've given this a lot of thought. I mean, if you have a peg leg or hooks for hands then maybe it's enough to simply keep on living. You know, bravely facing life with your disability. But without these things you're actually meant to make something of your life, achieve something earn a raise, wear a necktie. So if anything I'm actually the antithesis of Ahab, because if I did have a peg leg I'd quite possibly be more happy and more content not to be chasing after these creatures of the unknown.

Scully: And that's not flippant?

Mulder: No. Flippant is my favorite line from Moby Dick. Hell is an idea first born on an undigested apple dumpling. Yeah.

As long as we're talking about girls and arms.....

Butte, Montana November 5, 2007;

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26,
probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.
It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the
11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from an other home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news? ........an 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself, against two murderous, illegal immigrants.......and she wins and is still alive because of it.

Now, THAT is the kinda gun control I'm talking about !

no actually it's true i remember reading it. this story and many others like it are published each month in the NRA magazine...(i'm not sure i think it's monthly)...anyhow each year a remarkable number of rapes, robberies, murders and assaults are prevented by brandishing and/or using a weapon)....
You're right on there chuck! This info above is real and nox..there's this new invention called Google, great for checking and verifying info you ought to try it sometime...here's just a couple links to the story...

http://golfcarttoyz.wordpress.com/2007/10/16/11-year-old-girl-shoots-2-illegal-alien-home-invaders/

http://pleasespeakenglish.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=1

anyway chuck, you're also right about the NRA publications, America's 1st Freedom, and American Shooter, both have a "Armed citizen" article. It's truly amazing what the left wing media elite wont print!! Especially since it's so "sensational" go figure.

Further Chucky man, again your are right on about defensive uses of guns in the US, to the tune of two to three MILLION time a year!!!! So far this year, as of Saturday, April 19, 2008 9:56:10 PM there have been 1,356,138 criminals stopped by gun, most didn't even fire the weapon!

Another link to back up these claims.....

Here's a link to some more case history of succesful defensive gun use...

Reading some of this, I realize I should be more paranoid than I am! Think I'll go get a .45 and set it up here on the desk, put a .38 in my belt, lay the double barrel (with triple ought buck) against the wall, slap a 30 round mag into the AR and lean that on the other wall...oh screw that, my big German shepherd "Major" will take care of business! Nothing like an early warning system that has teeth!

Yes.
Why are some Americans obssessed with guns? Why do otherwise pleasant, rational human beings feel he need to collect and venerate such awful things? I may have a face like an arse, but in my humble opinion, US gun culture is extremely weird.
In fact, it's drivel.

Arse, I had to think this one through before responding, forgive the length...

This is Michigan, and it%u2019s been a long, hard, cold winter. But now it%u2019s Spring, the sun is out, and the breeze is in my face. I was sitting in the woods today, just reflecting on life, listening to the sandhill cranes off in the distance, feeling the gentle sunshine on my face, wishing I had put on my sunscreen... and it suddenly occurred to me, "Miter, you're different than most people."

I was just reflecting on my life, all I've said and done, all the many things that have happened to me, and I have to admit.... I am a different man than most people. Not better, not worse, just different. Some would say, even strange.

How am I different? That%u2019s difficult to articulate, because I've been this way my whole life. I just know that people look at my life, or listen to me tell about it, and some get this horrified look in their eyes like I've just grown a second head. I just seem to take my nonconformance for granted, and it didn't hit me until I asked myself these questions: "What would you think about someone you met who was just like you?" "How would someone like Arseface react to the things I do in daily life?"

Case in point, my daughters charity sing the other night, I'm sitting there in church, with my girlfriend, my ex-wife, and several of my daughters friends, comfortable with no uneasiness or regrets of the situation.

I didn't quite know what to think about that. Am I crazy? Am I nuts? Nope. I'm just different. I've made a lot of mistakes; that%u2019s for sure and I would be a fool to deny it. There are many things I've done that I would be loath to do again, and many things that have happened to me that I wouldn't wish on my enemies. But one thing is for certain, I've always (tried) to keep a good attitude, no matter what the situation, and I've always (tried) to accentuate the positive. In keeping with that personal survival policy, I've become very adept at converting manure into fertilizer.

I suppose there%u2019s no intrinsic harm in being different, but I've noticed over the years that there%u2019s a price to pay for nonconformance. Some people look at me, see that I'm different, and it scares them. So by now you must be asking yourself: "what the hell does this have to do with Arse's comment to miter on guns being "drivel?"

Well, now, that%u2019s a good question, and I have the answer for you. It%u2019s quite simple really. Chances are, if you're still reading this "rant" by me, then you're different too (an understatement LOL), quite possibly you may be like me....you may not be content to stick your head in the sand and let the wolves walk by unmolested, free to rape, pillage and plunder with impunity, if so, like me, this puts you in the minority.

But I don't conform. I'm different. And if you are like me, maybe at one point in your life, you made the active decision to take the road less traveled, to distinguish yourself from the other sheep, to take responsibility for your life and the lives of the ones you love. Now, that%u2019s not saying that the other people are bad, that they don't love their families, because that%u2019s not true at all. They are good people... they are good little sheep. And there%u2019s nothing wrong with that, assuming of course you are willing to accept the consequences of your decision to not arm yourself and protect your family.

"Sheep are born and bred for one purpose: to be killed and to have their parts processed into something useful by predators. They stand on the hill and go 'Baa', as they're being slaughtered!"

Remember that there are three kinds of people: sheep, sheepdogs and wolves. We all know who the wolves are; they are in and out of prison all the time. They take drugs, drink too much, and are prone to cruelty and acts of violence. And we all know who the sheepdogs are: that would be me and if any of you are with me on this, you too... as well as the military, and law enforcement. Every one of us who straps on a sidearm for the purpose of protecting the innocent in society at peril to ourselves, is a sheepdog and a hero. We carry a gun because we love people. Isn't it paradoxical that we are willing to kill people because we love people? But there are not enough of us. The wolves are too numerous; they are among the flock, and us sheepdogs are spread too thin. We need help.

The good news.... %u201CHelp is on the way.%u201D More and more often society is starting to accept us. Less and less people look at us like anomalies and "gun nuts"...more and more like the protectors we are. I suppose it%u2019s natural that a sheep is terrified of all fangs. Their terror is understandable because they are defenseless against all sharp teeth. They are unable to distinguish the difference between a gun that would hurt them and a gun that would save them.

But that analogy only goes so far. They may have the personalities and demeanor of sheep, but they are also reasoning human beings with the capacity for rational thought. I believe it%u2019s time to raise the bar for all sheep. Anyone who keeps an open mind and takes the time to look at us closely will eventually see that we are not wolves. We can help them and speed the process along by always showing them our best side. We are different than the sheep and the wolf. We have the ability to kill and love at the same time. In fact, ironically enough, sheepdogs kill because they love; it is a total act of unselfishness. On the other hand, wolves kill out of hatred and selfish ambition.

One last thing, to my fellow carry crowd....the comparison between CPL (concealed pistol license) holders and average citizens is in stark and profound contrast. But I encourage some of you, not so much here on glumbert, but some of my friends and acquaintances (you know who you are) to get better at articulating why you carry a firearm, because some of us are scaring the hell out of the sheep. Let people get to know your softer side. You are ambassadors, and everything you do reflects on CPL holders everywhere. Take time to reassure the sheep. Their fears may be irrational and misplaced, but they are still real. Always remember to articulate that you carry a firearm to protect and serve the sheep, always show respect and control. This is how you got your license in the first place, a clean record, showing you have had respect for the law, respect for others and control of your self...... It will calm the flock.

What an amazing mom! Very inspirational! Speaking for myself, I can say its hard enough being a two-armed mom, nevermind being a NAMBLA. (Thats a no-armed-mom-believing-lifes-awesome). What the hell is wrong with me. I shall now go flog myself. Eiiiiieeeeeee! And for those of you who are of a reprobate mind, to "flog" oneself means to beat with a whip, stick etc to cause punishment, NOT what you may be fantasizing that it means, ok? ok.
