Anyways, I watched the Academy Awards last night, and here's what I got to say about it: they have GOT to be kidding me.
Eastwood gets completely snubbed for "Grand Torino" and "Changeling" for best picture AND director?? Melissa Leo got beat out for "Frozen River"?? "Slumdog Millionaire" beats out "Dark Knight" for Best Picture??? Okay, Heath Ledger got the nod for his portrayal of The Joker (the one sane choice, natch...although I would have been just as happy with Robert Downey Jr. getting a statue for "Tropic Thunder"), and Sean Penn got his second Oscar for "Milk".....but all the rest??? Mickey Rourke looked/acted/sounded like a complete burn-out.
Keeee-rist.
On a brighter note, I thought Hugh Jackman, as M.C., did a helluva song-and-dance number. At 3.5 hours, though, these Oscar ceremonies STILL run way, way too long.
Plus, it was very cool to see Jerry Lewis get an honorary Oscar last night; he looked like he was not so great health. That was sad.
I have returned, refreshed and ready to probe.
If anyone requires my services, please let me know. My probing is remorseless, ruthless, and without fear. To be probed by The Prober is a gift freely given. The only reward I seek is to, in some small way, improve the human condition.
