Ok, am I dope? This made me weepy. It was so beautiful... and I love the song. I hope I have that much in me to still be able and want to live out my dreams at 85.
I hope the world hasn't jaded me so much by that point that I just can't or won't take chances in life.
Before peeps start calling me a fag for knowing it, I didn't. I googled, "100 years to live" and found that the title was 100 years. Went to Napster and found out the group.
My sis and I went bungee jumping and asked our 90 year old grandmother to join us. I think it would have set a world record at the time. She joked that she would only do it on the one day each year that everyone at this particular bungy place jumps naked. I always thought it was a cool comeback for the old gal. Good for this old guy to get out there and do it. I hope I have that moxie at 85, or 75 or 65 or...
I got a little spooked when he jumped feet first.....jarred the hell out of myself diving the way your supposed too...never mind feet first. He must be made of protonite. Anywho....I've done a lot of freaky shit in life....this video captured the hardest moment of them all....literally the leap....no shit....to step off that platform was harder than giving birth....freefalling....basejumping.....spelunking.....sleeping near HUGE spiders.....etc. Anyone know why it's so hard to take that step?
The difficulty of the first step is uncertainty of the result. When most people are faced with a difficult decision and they cannot correctly estimate the outcome they usually do nothing.
But don't forget that generally individuals skew their personal risk drastically off because they don't think it through logically, but emotionally. Because so many people do this governments, politicians, policemen, auto mechanics, etc, can use this emotional bias to manipulate the individual, or the group to their will.
In reality, the chances of you, or I being killed in a terrorist attack is less than being hit by lightning, or a asteroid. Yor are in far greater risk driving your car, or entering your bathroom, or using your stairs, or yes, even mowing your lawn.
These common but huge risks are always downplayed, and the minor risks are always exaggerated due to the emotional or financial returns for doing such manipulation.
Here are some common exaggerated examples: Sharks, Snow, Cold air, Hot air, Terrorists, Rapists, Child molesters, Murderers, Fire, Water, Rain, Lightning, Mosquito born diseases, Radiation, Toxins, Plane travel, Carbon monoxide, etc.
Some real risks: Driving, Drinking, Bathing, Walking, Running, Skiing, Boating, Mowing, Using any tools, Eating, Swimming, Using stairs, Inactivity.
Mr. Pod you are so right.....Yet I must be exempt from those examples. Almost everyone of those small disasters befell me as I read your post and wrote this response. Yes Almost everyone,, with the exception of Inactivity!! DOH!!!
